New Buffalo MI

Will be vacationing in New Buffalo July 15-22 and was looking for recommendations for nice courses to play. Thanks in advance

Blackthorn was nice and close.

Not a ton in that area.   Take a 45 minute drive to South Bend and play The Warren or Blackthorn.

If you don't mind getting your head beat in on the golf course, Whittaker Woods.  Short drive, gorgeous scenery but there are some brutal holes.  We play it once per year on our Michigan golf trip and I love it.  Basically long, wooded and some narrow holes...

Harbor Shores in Benton Harbor is only 30 minutes away. Some people love it and others hate the layout of the course, but they've hosted several Senior PGA Championships and the conditions are always excellent.

You’re about 50 minutes from Beeches and Hawkshead and about 30 minutes from Lake Michigan Hills. Hawkshead is the best of them. Arthur Hills design.

Lake Michigan Hills in BH.  Cheap, some elevated tee boxes and pretty well kept for a muni.  As mentioned whittaker woods, nice but tough track, be prepared to lose balls.

Whitaker was in pretty awful shape last year. Five years ago I’d have pushed Whitaker hard (others here have disagreed and it is overpriced even when well maintained).
 

By far the most convenient for distance, but at least as of last summer all courses ITT are better choices IMO.

I would agree with you on Hawkshead.  I played it last week and it was in great shape and a great course overall.

 

I played Lake Michigan Hills about 20 years ago and loved it but I couldn't tell you what it is like now.

I guess it’s all about how willing OP is to wake up early and how understanding his significant other is for how long he may be gone. He’s 60 minutes from Heritage Glen in Paw Paw ($59 walk or ride weekday), 75 minutes from Angel’s Crossing in Vicksburg ($39 walk/$55 ride), and an hour to Ravines in Saugatuck. There’s also Clearbrook in Saugatuck which is only an okay course but it’s kinda funny to play if for no other reason than because Kirk Cousins owns it.

I second this suggestion as well.  It's one of the most unique golf courses that exist.
