From draw to block off the tee

OK, quick one. Last night on the course i was playing well, +3 through 11, hit every fairway with a nice draw.  From the 12th i started hitting a straight block right on every hole.  My first thought would be grip had gotten a little weak, leaving the face open to target and square to the in to out path.  Seems logical... i will never know how it was on the 12th, but from then i made sure i had my normal grip, but still a straight block plagued the rest of my round with driver and 3 wood.

 

Question, could my clubface have stayed as it was, a little open to target, but closed to normal swing path, but instead im swinging less right, meaning i lost the draw and started hitting it straight right?  Does that work?  My head couldnt decipher, but it seems to make sense to me now, but didn't occur on course that maybe i needed to get a bit more in to out to get the draw back.  Or any other suggestions on what could have caused it so i have some ideas if this occurs again.

 

It put me in all kinds of problems and I couldn't get out of it.  Even blocked a 6iron on the final par 3.

You still could of had your in to our path but left the face open enough that it matched the path resulting in the straight block. Trying to swing out more probably would of just exacerbated the block or turn into a slice as the club would likely get even more open.

 

I would probably check your ball position and make sure it didn't start to creep back in your stance as well as your grip and body alignments.

Thanks, i hadnt considered checking ball position when on the course.  It was such a sudden change that it kinda threw me off.  I will make sure i have all those points to check if/when similar happens.

Very unlikely the swing changed that much. Draws and blocks go hand in hand especially with more extreme paths.

Yes. He could have also been toe-ing it slightly early on, and then catching it a little on the heel side or centered later on.

Agree.  Never does miss X appear from nowhere.  It’s there and only a matter of time before it shows up unless you improve swing efficiency

As a hooker of the ball I find a lot of blocks come from “hanging on” a little too much to prevent the club turning over, which due to the inside out path can lead to blocks. Sound like one block gave you a mentality of a loose grip, which may have resulted in a tighter grip and a lack of release leading to the blocks
