Slow motion can make you stupid

Tells his students to make swing path as far outside as possible on the downswing..........yeah, that's either gonna be a hook or a block out to the right.  I get that holding the angle for as long as possible/excess lag isn't good, but release as early as possible ala casting isn't good either.

No, he tells them to TRY to do it. He has videos illustrating the differences between what he tells them to try to do and what they'll end up doing instead.

I get his intentions are good.  However, my first golf instructor also told me to swing as far to the outside as possible when I was an impressionable 10 year old kid.  He told me that the only way to swing properly was to do so.  Mind you, it was back in the early 90's when this was the old school train of thought regarding swing path.  I ended up with an excessive in to out path as a result and hit big hooks.  It took me a really long time to get get my path more neutral when I got older.  I guess this vid triggered my PTSD, lol.

Great video that is perfectly in line with what a lot of other highly-respected instructors here and elsewhere say.

Done only by themselves, swinging way in-to-out and releasing "early" could certainly be a recipe for disaster. However, neither should be done without a good pivot and body turn -- and that's the whole point of the video: motions in the golf swing can be masked/misconstrued when watching the full swing (and in slow motion, particularly), but that doesn't mean that those aspects aren't present in the swing.

I, too, fight hooks (and sometimes blocks). And every now-and-then I'll drop-kick a 3-wood off the tee and want to blame it on releasing the club too early, and/or swinging too much from the inside. I reality, neither of those things is ever really the cause, regardless of the scuff on the grass a foot behind and inside of the ball. It's always that I didn't get into my lead side, and/or I didn't turn through the shot.

Swinging in to out can be a very different thing when using an open stance instead of a parallel stance, or a closed stance (an in to out swing, with a closed stance, is a fool proof recipe for a shank). With an open stance, while a swing might be in to out relative to the stance, it's nearly down the target line.

It seems the video is totally lost on some here. It is not a video on how to hit a draw. It is a video about perception WITHOUT instruction. As he says, I am trying to do THIS, but if you only watch the video, you only perceive what you see which is something completely different. Don't watch videos if you don't know what the golfer is trying to do.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
