Turning an Odyssey Eleven Slant Neck into a Counterbalance

Currently have an Odyssey Eleven 33” putter and have finally caved and am turning it into a counterbalance. There have been no mods to it yet. It’s a 365g head, so I will have to load it up with some lead tape to get to that 380g weight. I have a super stroke zenergy 3.0 17” grip on the way, but am unsure if I will need a a shaft extension or entire new shaft. Hoping some WRXers can point me in the right direction. I’ve attached a pic of the putter how it is currently.

You can buy weight from Billy Bob golf, a few bucks more than lead tape but cleaner and easier. 

 

The shaft I'd probably replace since the upper is graphite (I believe) and probably don't want a steel-graphite-steel shaft that's super light in the middle. 

 

When ordering the putter weights can also order some weight plugs if you want to add weight or use a specific grip that isn't heavy enough.

The biggest issue when using a graphite shaft extension is the stroke lab counterweight will most likely not fit. My best suggestion is to send it in to Odyssey/Callaway repair and have them put a new shaft in. I think it's around $65, including shipping, and you can tell them to leave it uncut and put a new grip in the box. I don't like having them trim to length because they have screwed up a few repair orders for me by cutting it too short. It's also about a 4-5 week turnaround.

 

If you add 15-20grams to the head and lengthen the putter, you will probably have to increase the stroke lab counterweight from 30/40g to around 50/60g or even 75grams to keep the swing weight down. I have a Toulon Stroke lab with a 350g head at 36" with a 50g counterweight w/ 65g grip and it still has a swing weight of E1/E2. 

 

I believe the longest the Stroke Lab slant necks can be is 37".  Make sure you pull your current shaft and grip and just send them the head because Callaway Odyssey will not send your old stuff back with the repair.
