Mizuno 223 Shaft Options

I've been playing Mizuno JPX900s for years and love the irons. I won a set of the Mizuno 223 and love their look and feel, but I don’t love the shafts. My 900's have the Project X LZ 6.0 shaft and the 223's have the Nippon Modus 115 stiff shafts in them. According to my pro this is the only shaft Mizuno puts in the 223's. Anyone know why? I would love to re-shaft these with the Project LZ's, It appears both the Project X and Nippon shafts are .355 so it should work. I’m kind of surprised and intrigued why Mizuno only offers a single shaft manufacturer. Anyone see or know a reason why the Project X shafts would not work?

Your pro is wrong.  The Nippons might be the default stock option, but they aren't the only shaft available.  Mizuno has a bunch of shaft options for their current line of irons:

The PX LZ shafts are listed as a no-upcharge option.

I have the 223s with the PX LZ 6.5 shafts built by Mizuno. They definitely offer those shafts.

They definitely offer a lot of other shafts at no upcharge.  The stock for the 223 is Modus 115 stiff, or Modus 105 regular at retail.

I knew it didn't sound right and even went on the website and clicked on the Shop Now button, and it only showed me the Nippon Modus shafts as well, so I didn't push it. I didn't even think to go through the custom fitting. Lesson learned, but happy to know I can reshaft them with the Project X LZ's

Weird thing for a pro to say.

I play Dynamic Gold 120 X in the 223's. Mizuno have a huge range of stock shaft options.

If they're getting you a pre-built set quickly then go ahead and reshaft. If they are getting them made though just order what you want. Mizuno is taking like 6 weeks right now anyway, you have plenty of time to change spec.

Thanks for the clarification, I’ve already received them and yes i did say if possible id like them in a week. (I got them in 3 days) I likely would have waited had i known that but I wasn’t clear to him and he certainly didn’t make the effort to let me know they were available but with a delay.

Your pro is very uninformed. Of course, the easiest thing is just swap the shafts in your 900’s into the 223s.
