New Apex Pro with a "ping" sound?

So Stopped by my local range today, and they had the demo 7 iron of the New Apex Pro, so took it out and hit some shots and noticed a sort of ping sound when hitting it>? Is this what others have experienced or was this something else going on somewhere? My current club being used didn't produce this sound so I eliminated it being anything on the mat or balls? Thanks in advance.

i think there’s some feedback here and elsewhere that the original fitting heads had a problem. not sure about the retail versions but i should know soon. i have a set on the way.

I found the same hitting a demo. I’d describe it more as a ‘YUKKK!!!’ sound though. 
 

The sound is totally reminiscent of Ping Gmax irons hit badly. I literally only hit 10 balls and gave it back. 
 

The 7 iron was also no longer than my 714 AP2. Massive fail from Callaway as I was almost tempted by the Apex Pro 21s.

I went to the club to hit the new line, Pro/fitter mentioned Callaway instructed everyone to send back their new Apex Pro fitting heads...  he said it will be another week or two before they receive new heads. 😮

The original apex pro fitting heads were defective.

apex pro 21 are great irons

good to hear, Because I wanted to like these so much, and that sound was awful but will try again when its fixed thanks
