Mid, Upper Lower Core Swings

Wonder if anyone had any experience or thoughts on Larry Rinker's Mid/Upper/Lower core swing philosophy and what are typically seen as faults are actually hallmarks of an Upper Core swing??

IMO the most important aspect is they ALL require correct sequencing and pivot, and some major common flaws are rather irresponsibly pitched as being perfectly fine in the upper core swing without the full context.

I went down and had a fitting and lesson with Larry Rinker last March.  I really like his stuff and it resonated me.  Btw, I measured out as "upper core" as you can be as a "9".

Do you feel this swing is very timing oriented or have you not had a problem with that? Also would like to know if it's affected your distance at all. Thank you.

think @MPStrat is big on Rinker stuff. Measured a 20 on the upper core scale, lower body completely closed while the shaft releases in the follow through.

Yes since I have been measured I’ve been experimenting with different setup alignments to best allow for my high handle double cross 70 yard slap-block. It’s a work in progress.

Can someone explain what "makes" someone upper/mid/lower core? Like what metrics, measurements, whatever are used in deciding this?

IMHO, I think ANY swing is timing oriented.

And since embracing my upper core swing (even before I knew it was upper core...)  - my handicap has improved each of the last 4 yrs (I'm now a 9.2).

And no, I have not lost any distance.

I wrote about my experience when I went down to see Larry Rinker last March:

 

He determines your upper vs mid and lower core tendencies based on a number of factors and measurements:

 - your swing tendencies (from videos he takes)

 - measurement of external shoulder rotation

 - measurement of shoulder width in two spots relative to height and weight

 - measurement of balance from differing stance widths

 - measure of "power angle" between upper arms and forearms

Btw that move has a name, it's called The Havercamp.
