KBS CT Tour Double Bend in a Scotty Phantom X7?

Tried searching the forum and couldn't find any posts that helped...

 

Is putting the KBS CT Tour double bend in the Phantom X7 possible?

 

I'm guessing the .370 diameter should work?

 

Also, the Phantom X7's shaft doesn't quite seem like a "true" double bend shaft, if there is such a thing, so will the shape work too?

The X7 like the X5 doesn't have a double bend shaft, it's a single bend shaft with a .355 tip diameter. So, one in the right size would/should fit, but I don't how it would affect the putter and the way it sits/works.

Glad I asked, already got the diameter wrong!

Yeah I'm really not sure how it might affect it either, was just thinking of switching to a black shaft, purely for cosmetics, and maybe going an inch longer.

I did a lot of digging myself because just like you I wanted to put a black shaft in mine. Got a little mixed feedback on here about shaft size but was able to confirm thru a friend with the Scotty tour rep that it's a .355 tip. I actually sent mine away right before Thanksgiving to have it reshafted, but the guy ended up not having the shaft in stock and KBS was being slow to respond so he sent it back to me, I will send it back down once he has some shafts in stock.

 

Normally I do all my own reshafting, but I have never reshafted a bend putter shaft before and you need a special little set up in order to make sure it goes on like its supposed to. 

 

KBS does make a black single bend .355 putter shaft though.

Shame your guy didn't have the right shaft in stock 😞 I'll have to see if I can find the single bend one somewhere.

I've not done reshafting myself, just grips really, so definitely taking this one to someone else!

 

If I had a cheap putter laying around to tinker with, I might give it a practice.

Yea it was a little disappointing but eventually it will have a black shaft in it lol

 

You can find them online, just make sure its .355

 

I have a decent hobby shop and can do most all club repair/altering. I could reshaft the putter, but you need to know the specs beforehand and then install the new shaft so that it matches those specs otherwise it will be off and though I have a loft/lie machine I don't have the set up for that.

 

I would def. recommend sending or taking it to someone who has experience working on something like that. I sent mine to Will Peoples, once he gets some more shafts in, I will send it back down.

I thought I'd ask KBS and see if they could confirm the diameter:

 

We appreciate your willingness to play our products! Unfortunately, Scotty Cameron makes most of his putters whose hosel diameter is neither .355 nor .370. Due to this, we are not able to install our putter shafts into these putters, as we only manufacture .355 taper and .370 parallel tip shafts.

 

I also went to the local Golf Town, and my buddy there called them up, and apparently the person on the other end "didn't have that information available"

 

Think I'll grudgingly stick with chrome and just get the grip changed

 

EDIT: Oh yeah, and I'll not be feeding into this bullxxxx in future.

Starting to make question my source now lol! 
 

Other option and I’ve done this before on some other clubs, send it to Labworx and have them put a black coating on the stock shaft. Have done it in the past with a Spider X and a couple Project X shafts for my wedges. Held up very good!

Just got my putter back from having the stock shaft coated, love the way it turned out. Had a little paint fill done as well.
