Phantom 5.5 vs pld anser d

For those who have tried both, what was your conclusion on how they perform agains each other?

i own the phantom 5.5 and it was a love/hate realtion last year. I really commited to it because i think it looks great but something was off sometimes.

i tried the pld anser d today and was very impressed. Almost bought it on the spot. Felt super stable, the feeling was softer compare to the phantom and the stroke felt great.

Did anyone tried both and could offer his/her thoughts on them?

I have used both and I would choose the PLD Anser D. Its got a great feel and the graphite shaft gives nice feedback. Other shaft options are really limited with the SC 5.5 and the .390 hosel design.

As much as I’ve always wanted to get along with the 5.5, something about the placement of the neck or maybe the offset just throws me off a bit.

I’ve owned the Anser D and was a huge fan of it. I have a buddy who put a MMT 130g graphite shaft on his Anser D and it might just be the most stable putter I’ve ever tried.

The PLD Prime Tyne could be a great option for you too if you prefer the slant/flow neck look over a plumbers neck. I think it’s also one of the best looking putters out there.

Struggled with the phantom 5.5 too last year. For some reason the feel off the face felt dead to me for lack of better wording. I'd either end up over hitting or under hitting putts by a lot because of it. The PLD line feels softer but a lot more solid so it helped make distance control a lot more predictable for me. Also thought the graphite shaft felt great in comparison with the scotty shaft.

Yeah. Very interested in this one. l know the retain value should be less than scotty, but do you think the pld putters hold their value if i end up selling it?

Buy the PLD used if you're worried about resale value.

Two totally different necks, putter heads, and shafts. You might have a less pronounced arc and that’s why the PLD feels better. Or maybe ball position works better. Or could be balance.

No real wrong answer, but when things click I wouldn’t ignore it. Used will keep you out of trouble if you change your mind.
