Any Miramont Country Club (Bryan, College Station) members here?

My parents-in-law live in the Miramont neighborhood in Bryan but they don't golf. However, the kids and grandkids all do, so the thinking was that a family membership might be a good idea. Get the kids excited to be around more!

I'd love to meet up with someone who is a member and see what they think of the course. Feel free to PM me off the forum.

My (limited) understanding is that Miramont is invitation only.  I think one rich guy owns it and you basically have to have a connection to him.  So the membership is fairly small and heavily controlled.  I played with a member (elsewhere) and he told me this information back in 2019, so it may or may not be accurate, but it's what I heard.

Our family was members for years, would echo the comments above, club is owned by a local banker and it is difficult to get in without some kind of connection, owning property in the neighborhood is a great start. Last numbers I’d heard were a bargain compared to clubs in the major Texas metros but it’s the priciest club in town. Course is great. Architecturally nothing too wild but a lot of good holes none that are bad. Conditioning, service, amenities are ridiculously good.

yeah, it's in great shape for sure. I've walked the course a few times in evenings after play is finished. It looks interesting as there are a few "go for it" type of holes where if you can carry 275+ with a driver, you have a risk-reward calculation to make. I love those types of dual-outcomes courses.

I'm sure it appeals to the better player; from what I understand, they tried to become the home course for the Aggie golf team but lost to Traditions.

I don't think your last part is accurate.  The Tradition Club was built around the same time and was always going to be the home of Aggie golf. I think the school might have even had some sort of financial investment in Tradition.  I remember one of our football announcers was let go (for a few seasons, he's back now) because he was involved in the development of Miramont.  It was a big political deal - but the owner of Miramont is one of the biggest aggies there is - so it all worked out.

Correct, traditions is a few years older and was built specifically to be the home of Aggie golf. They are very much involved with the university and have cottage rentals for game weekends that include golf etc. At least they did when I was there. Miramont was not even really a thing yet although it may have been under construction in the mid 2000’s. It had very little press compared to traditions.

Thanks for the clarification. The info was secondhand from a family member. Just rumors I'm sure!

Firing someone for being involved in the development of a subdivision on their own time; that's one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard. Right up there with people blackballed for having known associates that may be linked to Communists back in the 1950's.
