Titleist Hybrid Shafts (or specifically the shaft adapters)

Recommended Posts

So I have had a Titleist 913H 21 degree hybrid for a while, probably something I got out of a bargain bin for $20 a couple years ago. It’s fitted with a stiff flex shaft, which I’ve been looking to swap out for regular flex for a while, and I thought I found an economical way to make it happen this week: I picked up a 910H 21 degree with regular flex shaft, from the local golf shop for $25, my thought being that I could swap shafts and not have spent a lot of money on the endeavor. I have however found this isn’t possible, because the adapters are different.

So the question I have is, how many different adapters does Titleist have? Which shafts might be compatible?

For now, I’m going to give the 910H a try, who knows, I might like it…

@Mainegrw, the line is drawn pre- vs post-910 with Titleist, even for fairway woods.  The 910 fairways had the same adapter as in the driver.  So I could take the shaft off of a 910 3W and put that shaft on a TSR driver with no issues.  But could not take a 913 or newer fairway and put that on a 910 fairway.   Any 913 or later hybrid shaft will work on your 913.

As for the 2nd part of your question ("which shafts might be compatible"), you need to give more information.  A "stiff" shaft across different brands (i.e. Fujikura vs Mitsubishi) can perform differently. And 2 stiff shafts from the same brand (Ventus Black vs Ventus Blue) can perform differently.

Thanks for the info, this makes a bit of sense.

As to my second part, I wasn’t really asking for a particular brand/model of shaft advice, this was mostly about the adapters and what fits on what. Sounds like the answer here is anything 913H generation and newer will work, and the 910H is the odd one. Now I know…

Now I have another question based on what I’ve just noticed: The dots punched into the shaft adapter: what do they indicate? It would make sense to me if this were an indicator of initial setup, but when lined up, they show configuration C1 which would be -0.75 degrees lower than stated loft, 0.75 degrees flat lie, and 1.5 degrees open on the face. One would expect if these were an indicator of some sort that they would indicate A1 instead, for standard loft and lie, no? Just curious, I grabbed another reasonably priced 913H in my travels yesterday, and a very inexpensive second shaft for the other one, and I noticed these indicators on all three shafts I now have.
