OEM hybrid thoughts on this option...

12 year old boy, 61" tall and 100 lbs with driver swing speed around 79-82mph.

We recently did a driver and 3wood with taylormade heads and paired them with senior flex shafts of appropriate length and weight for his age. These worked out well.

He now has a pretty large gap between his 3w and his us kids golf hybrid and was thinking of going to an OEM hybrid to help close that gap. I was hoping to accomplish what I did for his driver and 3w which was to select heads with the adjustable loft sleeve so that we could use the adaptor to increase loft and be able to use those heads for awhile and just swap out the shafts as he grows. We did 10.5* in the driver playing at 12.5* and the 15* playing at 17*. I figured this would be cost effective for a few years just swapping shafts and changing lofts down the road.

With that same thinking I was looking at a Taylormade SLDR hybrid in 21* loft. That seems to be the only adjustable loft taylormade hybrid that isn't a smaller lower launching "players" head. The newer rescues with the adjustable loft sleeve like the sim2, stealth, and qi10 don't look like great options for a junior who needs forgiveness and high launch.

Assuming the SLDR in 21* is a good option... what shaft weight do you guys think would be appropriate and how many inches can we cut it down to play the right length? How much is too much? Would like it to play around 37.5" or 38". Meaning i'd most likely have to take off like 2" on a shaft to make it work.

Why make it so complicated and not just get a 5wood of the same make and model?

He likes a hybrid for starters. Secondly anything OEM off the shelf will be too long for him. We could do a 3h in US KIds Golf but since he has a Taylormade Driver and 3w I figured we could upgrade the hybrid as well. But it would require piecing it together with the right length senior flex shaft.

For what it's worth, I just bought the US Kids TS5 hybrid for my son and it's a pretty decent offering. He's about the same height as your son, maybe a little lighter with a swing speed of about 75mph on driver. Can't remember his yardage with the club but I was messing around with it and it is a fairway finder for sure. In fact, I thought enough of it to order the 3 wood from the same series. He hasn't hit it yet because it just came in today but I'm hoping that it's as forgiving.

I would not do a SLDR they can be super low spin. I would say go with a Stealth or a M2/M4/M6 hybrid.

Stealth 2 hybrid has been great for my 12 yr old with senior shaft.TSR1 hybrids are larger cc and didn't like the way they are at address. TM-M series as said above are great too
