Maltby KE4 Max review

I built a set last May, and played them as my primary irons up until this week.  Awesome club head that plays very strong loft per club number, or 1/2 inch short as compared to modern lofts.  I had a 5-GW, however I actually played 6-GW rounding out the remaining clubs with KE4 Tour hybrids.  Everything was shafted with TT Score LT shafts that I have re-used now on at least 6 heads per shaft in testing.  Everything was stock length / loft and lie at D2 swing weight, hence my 1/2 inch short to loft statement. For reference: my swing speed is 105 driver and 85 on my 6I, and I make solid contact/smash factor.  My tempo is slow at 24/8.
 

Awesome club head, and great value for anyone looking for a good deal.  Easy to hit and very forgiving, and they always produced the distances I expected.  The shaft combo I used was a little high in flight and produced higher spin numbers, however I am confident the TT DG 120 would help bring those numbers down.  My normal shot is a push-draw.  Over the winter, I worked on a pull-fade and can report the club head did not disappoint.  The player may have, but not the club.  Typical Golfworks photography has the clubs not looking as good as they do in person.

 

They have kicked my TE Forged out of my Sunday bag.

 

I highly recommend this club head to anyone wanting: value, game improvement, an easy club to hit, as a spare, and of course any sandbaggers needing both a look and performance.

I play same configuration 6 thru pitch. Went with the ts3 gap. Also play the 19 and 22 deg ke tc tour hybrids.

Have recoil 660 shafts in irons 

Anyhoo, the Max head is stupid easy to hit which is exactly what I need.😃
