Ping G730 irons, anyone getting?

It matters because with current lofts players need to carry 5 wedges. 

Add a putter and a driver and you only have 3-4 clubs to cover 80-100 yard gap between driver and 6 or 7 iron.

The Rogue X had a 46* A wedge and it came out 6 or 7 years ago. Somewhere between 46* & 48* has been the norm for quite a while.

The G430 is 45* btw.

What’s the benefit of a set like this as opposed to, let’s say the Cleveland Launcher XL Halo irons? The Halo lofts go from  23*(5i) to 49*(DW*) with 7 clubs, the G730’s go from 21.5*(5i) to 45*(UW) so even though you might hit your 730 6 iron further, you need to buy an 8th club (the 2nd UW) to get to 50*.

The only thing I can think of is the 730 5iron eliminates the need for a 4 hybrid?

I've played Mizunos during this time frame, my gap wedge is 48 and I remember when they all used to be around 50.  I guess Callaway may have started the gimmicky lofts if they done it with the Rogue X.  I know Titleist has done it for awhile too with labeling their clubs oddly.

I went to an outdoor Ping fitting event today.  I hit the 430, 530 and 730 irons.  For reference, I’m a 5.9 index and currently play ap1 710s with the stock Nippon 105t steel shaft in regular flex. 
 

I’ll cut to the chase.  The 730s were fantastic.  I noticed no difference in feel or sound as compared to the 430s or 530s.  But the height and distance were clearly different.  Yes, the 7 iron is 28 degrees, but the loft on the 7 for the 430 and 530 is 29, so not much difference there.

 

The one thing I don’t understand is where these fit in the line up in relation to the 430.  I put the 430 and 730 down next to each other and honestly I could not tell much of a difference.  If anything, I though the 730 looked a little slimmer/sleeker but maybe Ping is good at hiding the size?

 

Anyway, I left the fitting a little confused.  I thought the 7-series was designed for high handicap players who need all the help they can get.  These seemed to fit me just fine and worked great.  BTW, swing speed with the 7 is around 75 and I was fit into the stock DG 100 shaft in regular flex.
