Ping G730 irons, anyone getting?

Next week you can order the New Ping G730 iron's , anyone excited about these irons?  For me, they look like the Ping Ladies irons.

It’s all just smoke and mirrors now. U wedge is now the old pitching wedge loft, The old U wedge loft is now a 50 wedge. Stupid re numbering of clubs. The new Ping stuff makes me like there old stuff even more.

That would be a pass if I was in the market for super game improvement irons.

Probably check.out the PXG line instead. And I love my Ping stuff.

I was so bummed to see this released. The 710 was a winner. With lessons learned from other hollow bodied they should have stayed with that. From Karsten, GMax, G700, G710 to this is a step backwards. The Gmax was height of forgiveness and G710 was a great blend of SGI attributes hidden by shaping and color. They should've evolved the 710 instead of this. Just look at T350, ZX4 MKII, 0311XP and see how hollow bodied hot rods can have sound tamed down. I was waiting for these and I just saved enough to buy a new rimfire rifle.

As good as the G series family has been over the years, I always end up getting rid of mine because of the wide soles.  I get the benefits, but I play on mostly public courses where unfilled divots and uneven surfaces (depressions/holes) are not uncommon as well as uneven rough.  In those situations, it is impossible to get down to the ball with such a wide sole which takes away the advantages.

I think they look good.  The lofts are stupid strong, though.  Ping has jumped the shark on lofts.

The 730 is bigger, longer and wider soles. And a little bit more offset.

After I20/G20, Ping started moving the G series toward the I series. I recall S, I, G then K. Might as well reintroduce the K and call this K730 to reset the target market?

Now that the Blueprint S is here and caters to the Tour audience, I wish the i2XX would go back to being more of the general purpose iron like the i210.  The i5XX for PD, G4XX for GI, then G7XX for SGI.

I’m confused. Isn’t their current lineup just that ?

 

blueprint T - Tour / Uber small profile 

blueprint S - Tour/ player - small profile but not as bladey as the T 

i230 - wide audience iron from pros to low to say 12 ish cap iron 

i530 - players distance 

g430 - GI

g730 - most help. Game enjoyment iron

Nothing. I think Ping's lineup perfectly encapsulates every range of player now.  Super game improvement, game improvement, player's distance, what I would call a modern cavity (some sort of mutimaterial tech with slightly stronger than traditional lofts --- i.e. i230), a tour cavity back (small sole, offset, and topline, traditional lofts), and a flat blade.  They have every possible consumer covered now.

With the i230, they moved much more towards a Tour player profile especially in the longer irons.

Pre-Order is March 7, and release date is April 4th. for both G730 & i530.

Exactly. I’m referring to the embargo date bc that’s when we’ll see the reviews.

I play the G700 irons 5-7 in a combo set. I doubt these work much better if at all than my G700’s. They look “ok”.

Your G700's are more like the i525's and the New i530's.

The G710, i525 and Now the i530 all are hollow heads. just less offset and lofts.

G700 and 710 are essentially the same construction just with a different color and maybe a slight tweak in feel.
