This got here with the comment that what LIV is doing is just capitalism at its best. Capitalism DOES NOT involve business ownership by a government. Saudi Arabia owns LIV Golf. If you disagree, fine. I have nothing else to add.

Nominally you can claim it's a "public fund", functionally it isn't.

 

But we probably agree whether it is private or public, nominally or in reality, those distinctions are irrelevant in this case - it's the nature of LIV's behavior (at the moment only talking how it operates as a business and avoiding the politics) that is at issue and that combined with basically unlimited funds has always been at the heart of why it can function the way it chooses to function.
