Heavier 3 wood shaft

I'm using an 80TX in my 2-Wood; quite nice. A heavier feel, but I also increased the head weight a touch to move the fulcrum away from my grip a little. It's not like it's much, but it's a feel thing. As I went up in weight in shafts I found the feeling of having a lot of weight locked up in the shaft and grip was not compatible with my process.

It didn't have a big impact on swing speed to my knowledge, but part of that is simply because I'm happy with it and don't really care if it shaved a MPH or two off.

I heard a heavier shaft will add swing weight? but what you experienced makes sense too...I guess it depends on the balance point of the individual shaft?

It really depends on the individual golfer's sense of feel when swinging the club and how each profile alters that sensation. For example, I added a lot more weight to my driver to generate the desired feel. The Hybrid is more of a standard weight with the 88g Riptide in it at stock length.

The 3W is a little longer than standard as is the driver. I went with a progressively increasing SW for the three clubs. It's an odd combination but it works.

I'm at 50g, standard X, with a driver shaft. But go 70tx in fairway woods.

I went heavier in 3 wood hoping to reduce the over-draw miss, and it’s worked out great for me.  A good rule of thumb is for every inch of club length, add 5 grams of shaft weight. So if you play a 68 raw gram driver shaft at 45.5”, then for your 3 wood at 43” you would want an ~80 gram shaft.

Currently in 80TX but have messed with 70 gram shafts for 3 metal in the past.  Lighter shafts in driver and fairways always mess with timing and delivery therefore ball striking in general suffers for me.  Not worth the slight uptick in ball speed.
