Players with a 2 hybrid as longest fairway club - what does the rest of the bag look like?

Have really liked this combo, but the tinkerer in me wants to try and combine the 2h and 3i into a driving iron and bring back the 3w.

Try the Ping Rapture DI , can probably only get second hand but money

First round yesterday after surgery. Had planned on alternating 3w and 5w dependant on course, then 7w followed by 4 and 5h. 
 

Had all the expected comeback issues (rusty short game etc) and overly high expectations (!) but also a stiff reminder of the strength of wind on less sheltered courses in the UK despite being about as far from sea in all directions as you can be in the Midlands!🤣 

 

Gr still very wet too following the wet winter. 
 

on windy days in this particular course will have to drop fairways for a club giving a lower shot into the wind. Have  a 2h (for wet days) and Rapture DI for the summer.

 

Lol weeks of planning while convalescing and still got it wrong!

This is my current setup to get both.

 

Driver: TSR3 8* 

Fairway: Rogue ST LS 15* 

Hybrids: M3 17* and 21* Hybrids 

ZX Utility 24*

Irons: Bridgestone 221 6-P

Wedges: Mizuno 223 GW, Miura 54, 58

 

I went without a 3 wood for a long time.  I don't hit it often.  Back then I had a 5i and a stronger utility.

170 ball speed is nuts for a hybrid 😎 

Is that the adjustable or bonded version? 

Its a bonded hosel but I have always quite liked bonded hosels in hybrids and even fairway woods so long as I could find a setup with the right shaft which suits your game, I think the average ball speed was 167 mph but have had a few even faster, the very low spin is exactly what I need especially off the tee as it rolls out to almost the same total distance as my 3 wood although the carry is 12-15 yards shorter.

Years ago I did it with a Ping G20 17-degree hybrid. That was the model that was super offset and shaped like a crooked thumb. 

 

I had the complete set of Ping G20 irons starting at the 20-degree 4-iron (which was such a "shovel" it basically played like a short-shafted hybrid) and going all the way up through the S and L wedges. 

 

The 17-degree I could not elevate to save my life but I could hit these dead straight, 25-foot peak trajectory bullets that rolled and rolled, on a firm course I'd get nearly 200 yards out of it (150 carry plus as much as 50 of roll). So basically from about 160-something on down I'd have irons with 10-12 yard gaps. Then that low-roller strong hybrid for advancement shots or long approaches where I could run it up on the green. Then a 12-degre driver that I hit about 200 yards but with a nice, high flight.

It's been like 10 years in the making, lol.   I had a setup that was so solid for me, but then thought I was giving up too much distance.  8 drivers later and 15 swing changes and I'm doing half decent.

another higher loft hybrid? A 7 wood? Utility irons? 

I just ditched my hybrid on bought a used Titlist u510 2 iron.  It is easy to hit and launch IMO.  I kept my 3w and just plug and play based on the course.  One of my local courses I need the 3W quite a few times, and the other I don't at all.
