LAB DF3 head weight question

Fellow LAB rats,

 

I am looking to go DF3 and I am curious to know what you think of the heavy head vs. standard?  Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe the weight difference is about 15g? What are your thoughts and experience?

Consensus is that the lab putters tend to feel lighter than most putters since it’s harder to perceive any forces when moving the putter around. Because I tend to like heavier weights in my putters, it’s an obvious for me to go with the heavy option. 
 

If you normally like how most putters come off the rack, standard weight is probably fine. If you’re questioning it, I’d probably skew toward the heavy option. 
 

I used the heavy version of a Mezz Max. It honestly didn’t feel heavy, but it worked well for me other than alignment. It confirmed for me than standard would be too light and I wouldn’t get the feel I need for my putting stroke.

I would work with your LAB fitter and talk about swing weight. At first, I ordered the heavy head at 35 inches. In emails with the LAB fitter, we discussed what swing weight I like in traditional putters - I don't like mine more than D6 or so, or I get yippy from the heavy weight. I also know that LAB putters feel light. I was also getting the TPT Shaft which is about 140g - heavier than the standard steel LAB shaft. So after our emails, I went back to the standard head with TPT shaft, which will give me about a E9 or so swing weight which will feel a lot lighter (in the D8 range) due to lie balancing.
