Page advance

For the last week or so when I press next page in the forums, it will not advance or go back. Im on a Mac, if that has anything to do with it.

Hmmmmm,,,,,,,, I'm guessing it's browser related BUT, have you restarted your Mac recently ? If not, try that first.

 

It's not a technical explanation but sometimes your computer just gets,,,,,,, ummmmm,,,,,,,, errrrrrr,,,,,,,,, "confused"

Safari update and a restart and still no go.

I run a Mac (Sonoma14) at home and Windows 11pro at work.  Both with Chrome (have tried Safari too) and I have noticed issues with loading more pages (displays just one page) or submitting responses or creating messages.  I sometimes have to load things in a new tab or refresh the page to respond.  Doesn't matter if I have shut everything down and restarted.  It's been going on for a couple of weeks and is sporadic in it's effects.

 

Edit: Seems to have started right around the time that massive Titleist banner appeared at the top of every page.

Something appears to have changed with the board software.

 

There were previous complaints about the paging functions whereby going "forward", the next page immediately scrolled to the LAST post, instead of the top of the page.

 

That seems to no longer be the case. i.e. it's been "fixed". I use Firefox on my MAC desktop fwiw.

 

I pulled up Safari based on the OP and that's where I first discovered the pagination was "fixed".

 

That said the pagination works properly for me, but not for the OP. Sorry OP. If updating Safari and restarting your MAc doesn't work, I can't imagine what it might be other than a recent board forum software being updated - then again, those things aren't happening on my MAC, FF or Safari.

There has been no updates to the board software.

One of the things I get is that when I try to "Load more activity" at the bottom, nothing happens.  Can't get to the next page, doesn't matter if I refresh the site.  Happens in Windows 11pro and Mac Sonoma 14.4.1 with Chrome.  Doesn't matter if I use Safari either.  Not all the time, but often enough.

It’s also happening on Ipad, although less frequently. iPhone is fine

And here is another oddity that happens:  I can't reply to posts.  If I type something, there is no "Submit Reply" button.  I have to hit refresh and then click in the area to type into and then the system populates what I have typed (it saves it) and then I can reply.

Refresh to see if it changes anything. Take a full screenshot with ads when it occurs.

Massive Titleist ads now gone (for now) and so far, so good.  Will take a screenshot if it reappears.

When Titleist ad is at top the page will not advance within topic.

When footjoy ad is at the top it seems to work.

100% correlation between Titleist ad and page advance glitch…… from my end anyways.

@Gxgolfer When these appear I cannot go to the next page on any thread or page.  Drop down menus do not operate properly.  Many times I cannot respond directly to a post without refreshing and hoping the editor has saved what I typed.

I have the same problem when that Titleist ad shows up, pages don't advance and even the Messages feature won't respond. I am using an iMac running venture 13.6.6 and Safari 17.4.1. This never happened until the last couple of weeks.

It’s been reported to the Tour Ad department. It was submitted on Monday and we have not heard back from them.

You might need the help of the board's software developers if you don't have any of your own.

 

I should note I don't have ANY "internet" coding experience but I have 30+ years of mainframe "debugging" experience.

 

Given the multitude of issues, this one (or more) ads from Titleist seem to be causing, and looking at the page's source code, it would seem as though something about the ad is overlaying/interfering with the code to display the page.

 

I see some references to an "ad server" but zero indication of the ad itself, so the ad is apparently "inserted" (for lack of a better term) on the fly rather than embedded within the page source code.

 

Maybe just the size of the ads ?

 

Not enough to show a distorted-looking page but enough to cause different functions to break.

Its not an issue with the forum software.  Its an ad delivery coding issue specific to certain ads.

What ever it is its makes the site very frustrating to use. It is still happening this morning with the Titleist ad.

I had to install an ad blocker to make things happier.
