whats the dumbest thing any one youve ever played with has done

 

for me it was this one guy he was playing really well and then hits one bad shot and decides to throw his club at his bag hits his driver and 3 wood snaps the head off both and sends his 8 iron down a hill into really thick fescue and takes about 20 minutes trying to find it oh and this was all in a tournament.

I've seen somebody find a quarter on the green and honestly think it fell out of someone's pocket, so he picks it up and announces "Hey look, a quarter."

 

From the side of the green you hear "dude ..... that's my mark."

 

This was in a college match (hence the "dude")

True story and I swear, I have many witness...

I have a short tempered friend, very short, actually I have about 10 stories that could qualify for this post about him alone.

 

We were on the 9th hole, right in front of the clubhouse, short drivable par 4 (even for me, its 310) pond on the left of the green. My friend, "Pat", has had a terrible front 9, already has it is bad a few times and broke a piece of the bottom of the bag off and clubs start to fall through it making him even more pissed. He tries to drive the green, ofcourse in the water, drops short of the water for next shot, yep in the water again, after he hacks it on the green he 3 putts from about 10 feet. He gets so made he throws his hole bag in the pond, everything. He threatened to quite many times in those 9 holes and he was serious. He walks off the course.

 

We finish the round and notice his car is still in the parking lot, but we can't find him. I talked to him the next day and he said in his bad was his wallet and his keys!!!!! One of the funniest and and most stupd things I have ever seen!!! :)

i had a playing partner who when was hit into took a giant divot,placed the ball in it, and stomped on it. Ive also had partners throw clubs into lakes, throw clubs into the green, and just go crazy in general

two stories i like in particular

 

1. playing with a friend we get paired up with a father and son (son is in college, at SMU if that helps add to the story for you). first few holes, nothing out of the ordinary, some good shots, some bad shots. suddenly halfway through the front nine the kid starts throwing fits over bad shots. "what the f*&k, my ball is Word not allowed left, Word not allowed right". its amusing my frined and i. back nine he starts missing easy putts. on number 16 misses an easy birdie putt. tries to hit the ball in frustration into the lake and istead knocks a huge chunk of the green into the lake and completely misses the ball so in a fit of rage he drop kicks his putter a good 20 feet in the air, except in doing so he hurts his foot and cuts his shin.

 

as a side note, this was the day of the 2004 us open and as i watch the last few holes on sunday in the grill he is yelling hoping retief goosen makes a stupid penalty or trips and breaks his leg.

 

2. playing one afternoon right after the r7 is released and am paired up with a guy who got it that day. hits three drives that he thinks are great, i thought were mediocre at best. is going on how great this driver is and how long it is. well we get to number 4 and i finally hit driver (had used irons and 3 wood off the first 3 holes. i hit the ball pretty good, 260 in the middle with my nike 350cc forged ti. he hits his off the heel and then just throws a fit and proceeds to throw his new driver into the lake.

I've played behind this father and son (probably 14 or so) a couple of times ... I don't know who they are but they will drive the cart anywhere and EVERYWHERE..they drive up onto the fringe of the green..but since the hurricanes and losing around 1800 trees...homes and condo buildings are very visible now. Out of bounds isn't quite as intimidating as it used to be.

 

ANYway...last time I played behind them, I saw them driving around ON THE PATIO in someone's yard...just a few feet from the house and on the pool patio. I couldn't believe it...this is probably 15 yards past out-of-bounds!!!

I was playing behind a guy in a normal round nd he put his bag up onto the tee box, near the edge. it fell onto the cartpath below nd the heads snapped off his driver nd 3 wood. never seen anything like it.

I HAD a playing partner who shot around a 60 the front nine and going into the back nine, 10th hole shot 5 over for the hole smashed his putter 4 or so time around the cup and destroyed the green.

I grabbed my bag and went home. Havent spoke with him since, been almost a year.

Buddy of mine has a short temper. One time he threw his putter over his head after missing a tiddler. The putter got stuck 25ft up a tree. I stood and watched him and our other playing partner throwing other clubs up to try and knock it down.

They eventually got it down.

 

A couple of months later me and the same guy were on the range, I dared him to tee one up and take a full swing with his putter. The head of his putter came off and went about 50yds down the range.

 

No, this guy doesn't play much anymore.

 

Another time about 8 years ago before I really got into golf I was hacking round a local course with a few buddies. One was looking for his ball for ever in the rough about 100yds ahead, and 20 yds left of the tee box. He waved us to go ahead and hit. I teed up 1st. Came way over the top, drilled it left and low. The ball hit him square on the back of the calf muscle. Needless to say, he hit the dirt from the pain and we hit the dirt laughing. The bruise he had was insane.

 

Thinking back now if it had of hit bone and not muscle it would have been very serious...

During a pratice round for my school's golf team. (I have 3 witnesses including my coach) One of the Freshmen sliced a ball which made almost a complete u-turn. Over a practice putting green and actually hit our coaches van. Left a perfect dent and I almost died of laughter.
