G10 driver -- help ordering length/swing weight

I'm placing my order today. I feel that 45.75" is a little too long. If order it at 45", what swing weight should I designate? I know the stock swing weight is D3, but that's at 45.75", and I'm not sure you want to keep the same swing weight when you shorten the club. If you cut down the club to 10" and kept it at D3, it would feel like a sledge hammer, right?

 

What about 45" at D2? If I go 45.25", should I designate D3? I'm totally ignorant about this kind of stuff, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I cut my TFC129 shaft to 45" and it is AWESOME....not sure what the swing weight is sitting at right now.

After a lengthy call with Ping this afternoon, I decided to go with 45.25" and D3. The customer service rep told me that they couldn't guarantee D3 if I specified 45", and the truth is that the extra 1/4" doesn't make much of a difference anyway. I just wanted to make sure that the club felt the same at 45" or 45.25" as it did at 45.75".

 

Does that make sense?

TFC129 stiff flex (which I believe is 62 or 63 grams). The rep told me that they might be able to get it to D3, but that they couldn't guarantee it at that length.

That's great to hear. I'm thinking 45.25 should be just fine. I mean, it's just 1/4 of an inch, right?

 

I'm really excited about this. Over the past two months, I've spent more time in the simulator and launch monitor that I care to admit. Of all the drivers I tried, the G10 was BY FAR the most solid feeling and sounding club out there (IMO).

oh okay, well with a 60 gram shaft, i can see why they might not be able to guarantee it at that swingweight. i definitely support playing the g10 at 45" or less because i found the almost 46" normal length unwieldy, but if you're worried about the swing weight you might want to try a 70+ g shaft.
