Grafalloy prolaunch red iron shafts

The Hireko Shaft fitting addendum suggests that the grafalloy prolaunch red iron shafts are quite a soft shaft, with the regular rated at 67 mph and the stiff at 71 mph.

 

It would be helpful if anyone who has tried this shaft would give your opinions and experience with.

 

Unlike the bulk of these forums I am a low ball speed player. I need a light weight low launch iron shaft. On paper the grafalloy prolaunch red iron shafts seems to fit my requirements. They are available on Ping via the wrx option and on the Cleveland CG red. There is zero chance for me to try this shaft before purchase, so any information would be very helpful.

The Red irons are the stiffest graphite irons we make. Good graphite weight at 85ish and low torque too. I think RSSR and DSFI are based a lot on weight and most lightweight shafts get rated as weaker than they actually are.

I had a set of protos in TA6 (a pretty serious shovel). The combo of a really stiff shaft with game improvement weighting gave me a pretty nice ball flight, lower than expected but with a lot of spin on the greens.

 

If you are a slower swing speed definitely go with the R flex. Thats' what I use (100-105MPH with the driver)

Thank you for the information. I can't dispute your findings since you manufacture the shafts, but I thought the RSSR and DSFI information to be the most representative data available on differentiating shafts. Does shaft weight have a greater co efficient weighting in the DSFI calculation than it should?

 

I have a set of NV MLTi 105 regular shafts which I find a bit too heavy. I was looking at the pro launch red as a viable alternative.

I went with the mix set and put the PL Blues in 3-6 and PL Reds in 7-P.

Love the combo in my i506s.

I'm interested in the PL red iron shaft for my G2s. They are the standard graphite iron shaft in the Adams A3 iron set. I'm going to try to find a shop where I can demo these. Should give me a good idea for the shaft feel.
