Parker McLachlin Fan Club!

Recommended Posts

I think this is looooong overdue that we in the Hawaii Room start backing up our top ranking Pro from Honolulu, Hawaii. Parker is doing spectacularly this year almost coming away with a win this past weekend. I'm sure he'll be getting one soon to bring back to us in Hawaii.

For guys who don't know, Parker has his own website. PARKER McLACHLIN,com I stopped over there tonight and sent him a congratulations and also told him I'd be starting this fan club here for him at GolfWRX. Maybe he'll drop in on us one day. If you all aren't busy, go ahead and send him a note too. I'm sure he'll appreciate knowing he's got a lot of us Hawaii GolfWRX'ers as well as Hawaii golfers backing him up every weekend.

GO PARKER!!!!!

Well Parkers off to a semi-good start at the Memorial. He shot a +1 and he's tied for 47th. Hawaii's other boy Dean Wilson wasn't as fortunate with a +6 tied at 105th place. Hopefully Parker and Dean put in a great round tomorrow to be able to see the weekend. :friends:

For guys that missed it....here's Parkers "blog" from todays Honolulu Advertiser. Sorry to see he didn't get in the US Open but nice to see that Dean did. I think the most interesting thing in his blog was towards the end regarding the new Titleist Driver. ;)

Aloha from Scottsdale,

This is my first week off in a month, and my second week off in eight weeks. I've played six out of the last seven weeks, and I'm excited to be here in Arizona for a few weeks to get some much needed rest. It never hurts to sleep in your own bed. That's a nice change.

Last week was Jack Nicklaus' tournament, The Memorial, and it was one of the toughest courses I have seen all year. It felt like a U.S. Open. The rough was 7 inches thick and the greens had to have been rolling at 14 or 15 on a stimpmeter. It was probably some of the thickest rough I have ever, ever seen. It was a major championship setup ... which in turn definitely doesn't make it that much fun for the players! Instead of having to make a 10-footer for birdie, I found myself having to make 10-footers for par. That is never fun.

I got to play Saturday with Dean Wilson. That was really fun. It was the first time we have ever played together in a PGA Tour event. We had already played a practice round together on Tuesday, and there we were on Saturday paired together. Dean and I are good friends, and we spent time on Saturday talking about what was going on in Hawai'i. Because the course was such a grind, we didn't get much time to chat. We were out there fighting for our lives. I think I shot 77 and Dean 82. If this had been any other tournament, we would have spent more time relaxing and talking about Hawai'i.

Then, after a rough Sunday, I went to U.S. Open qualifying right there in Columbus. We had to play 36 holes in one day and there were 80-plus players competing for 23 spots. Now that I look back on it, it would have been better had I missed the cut and been fresh for the qualifier. I didn't have my best stuff that day, and when you are out there for 36 holes, you just can't skate by without your best stuff. While I missed qualifying I did get to play with Jay Haas, who had won the previous two weeks on the Champions Tour and who is the father of one of my friends, Bill, another PGA Tour player. Neither of us succeeded, but it was really enjoyable playing with him. As for the U.S. Open, my pick is Matt Kuchar. He's playing great golf and drives it really straight. I hope he has great success at Torrey Pines.

I'm looking forward to three weeks off. I may head out to Carlsbad, Calif., to the Titleist headquarters to get fitted for the new Titleist driver, which is debuting during the U.S. Open. Also, I may head back home to see you all in Hawai'i for a couple of days.

Mahalo for now,

Parker

Well after a tough finish at the Memorial, it looks like Parkers off to a pretty good start at the Buick after a long rest. He's at -2 today. I hope he can kick it up a notch tomorrow and shake off the rust as this looks to be a tournament that will definitely be won with a very low score.

Good luck Parker! :)

:russian_roulette: :) :D CONGRATULATIONS PARKER!!! ;) :ok: ;)

Parker seemed like he was leaking a little oil at times, but he held it together. What a great way to seal the blow-out victory, with a birdie on the 72nd hole. Nice to see another PGA Tour victory for one of the local boys. I am looking forward to seeing more great tournaments from him in the future. :D

Was it just me or did Parker seem very non-committal to going to the PGA Championship when they interviewed him after his victory yesterday?? I'm sure he is going to play but when they asked him about it he said something to the effect that he would 'see what happens about that and that he only wanted to think about his win'. Which is OK but I would have thought he would have said something like 'hell yeh I'm pumped about the final major...'. Either way congrats on a great win, you deserved it!!

I think Parker was just a little overwhelmed by it all. It seemed that he wanted to enjoy his moment and had not had time to think about what he was gonna do next week. It was a very emotional experience for him. Once it all sinks in and he has reveled in his first tour win, it will hit him. I would imagine he will have that "hell yeah" reaction you mentioned when that happens.

Looks like I am making plans to go to the Mercedes Championship this year! :russian_roulette:

Congrats to Parker from me as well! That was about as impressive a short game/putting exhibition I have seen this year. Some really clutch putts.
