NS Pro 950's in Cleveland CG1

Good combination???

I have a set of the NS Pro 950's and just ordered the CG1's. Has anyone tried this combination? ANy feedback would be greatly appreciated. I guess if it doesn't work, I can always change the shafts.

What sort of ball flight do the CG1 heads produce? If they have a tendency to fly low then the GH 950's would be a good match, but if ballooning trajectory is an issue then they'll only make it worse.

Personally I need all the help I can get getting decent height on my longer irons, and I really like the Nippon's smooth feel. They do tend to play a little softer than stated flex, BTW.

The NS Pros could be a good fit, the CG1 is a naturally high flying blade, a lot of people have told me that they hit the CG1's higher than the CG2's, but I guess it's all the person. I think you will find that they are going to be much smoother than a DG shaft, but you will also see a noticeably higher ball flight.

My limited experience with the NS Pro 950's would say that if you tend to be a hitter rather than a swinger- the shafts will balloon a bit. But if you load the shaft more smoothly from the top (not a quick or violent transistion) they play just fine.

The shaft is easy to overpower even at lower swing speeds (lower meaning 5i 80+ mph).

Ben Hogan Apex blades with R flex NS Pro 950's had a similar trajectory as Mizuno MP 33's with R flex DG300's for me. The DG responded more to a quicker move from the top (a problem of mine), but I liked the NS Pro's more because it smoothed out my tempo.

As always, YMMV/IMHO, etcetera
