Compliments at the Range

I was at the range with my wife and she says...

It was the first time she'd gone to the range with me in about a year. We're hitting balls and having a general good time. Then out of nowhere she says "you must suck at putting". I looked at her wondering what the heck she meant by that and she tells me that I must suck at putting because I hit all my other clubs great. Just thought that was pretty funny :russian_roulette:

Reminded me of my son one time - We were at the driving range, (he was 8 yo), and the owner of the club was there. He asked my son: "So, is your Dad a pretty good golfer?" Without hesitation, my son says, "Only in his own mind!" I was a 5 handicap at the time.

Best range moment I've ever had was when I took my little cousin to the range. I was slicing like crazy, and after explaining to her what a slice was, she hit the biggest duck hook I've seen (out of a 7yr old). "If you slice, I just un-sliced." Nothing like taking kids out to hit a few.

Wow lol i get this every time any 1 ever watches me hit balls. Usually goes sumthing like this. them- 'wow your striping it, whats your handicap'... me- '7 at the moment'... them- 'wow your putting must be horrible'. And its so true i cant put to save my life. Cant hit the ball on the course like i do at the range either 95% of the time but you know.. no one can.

On the range last weekend...

 

Guy: "You hit the ball farther than anybody I've ever seen."

Me: "Yeah? Have you ever seen the pros play?"

Guy: "Neh, I've never seen the pros play."

Me: "If you think I hit the ball far, watch a pro smack one 325 yards...in the air."

Guy: "Wow."

Me: "Yeah, I'm not that good."

Guy: "Yeah."

 

Around the putting/chipping green earlier this year....

 

Guy: "How do you get the ball to spin like that?"

Me: "What kind of ball do you play?"

Guy: "Eh, usually Top Flight XL, or whatever is cheapest."

Me: "What kind of wedge are you playing?"

Guy: "Oh, it's this Alien wedge thing (holds it up)."

Me: "Well, you really need a Tour-caliber ball, and a good clean wedge with real grooves, before anything else."

Guy: "I don't really wanna buy all that expensive stuff. Is there a special swing you're doing?"

Me: "No. I just stay loose, try to swing the club more with my lower body, and hit it solid, the equipment does the rest."

Guy: "So I probably can't do that then huh?"

Me: "No, probably not today."

Guy: "I like chipping with my 7 iron."

Me: "Me to."

Guy: "But you aren't very good at it are you?"

Me: "No, not especially."
