please help me with a driver and shaft combo

Guys I need some help.

 

I'm really struggling with the driver right now. I used to swing a 9.5 degree TM R580 xd with a HTD CB 65 regular flex shaft. I cannot seem to find a driver that I am happy with and need some direction.

 

My launch angle is consistently too high and my spin numbers are too high as well and it is robbing me of distance.

 

I'm not a long hitter, but I do keep it in play. My goal is to add some yardage and I would be glad to give up some accuracy to do it.

 

Swing Speed 90 mph

 

spin rate is 4200

 

launch angle 18-22 degrees.

 

These numbers are terrible. My usga index is 8.5

 

Any help or recomendations would be greatly appreciated.

i know the whiteboard is low launch and spin, lot of money though, or aldila protopype, or i think grafalloy prolaunch red, aldila nv

Yeah you must sky the ball and leave a dent in the fairway! but no worries that is an easy fix., kinda.

 

Get a shaft with a R flex in a mid to high kick point. Low launch and have its swing weight a little heavier than the rest of your woods/hybrids. That will help you come at the ball a little flatter and also bring you back spin way way down. And try out other balls they all spin differently and one will works best for you.

 

What is your angle of attack?

 

Rflex can be hard to find in a low launch high bend point set up but if you need to you can play a light Stiff and get a much better ball flight...and more carry and roll....IE more distance.

I tried the taylor made tour burner 8.5 degree with a stiff shaft yesterday. It seems to be working a lot better for me. I thought about getting a regular flex shaft with the 8.5 degree loft, but the regular just felt way to "whippy" for me. I've been using the adams A3 pro driver with a stiff YSQ shaft that I like, but seems to spin too much. Yeah, I hit a really high ball with my driver and I'm a short guy. The companies just don't make drivers to fit guys like me so I'm having a hard time finding the right combo. I've never hit an 8.5 degree driver, but years ago I used to hit one of the origional Big Berthas with a 9 degree loft. I always felt like that club gave me on average more distance than most of my peers. I'll bet back then it was truly a 9 degree versus the "8.5 degree" they stamp on drivers now. I'm no pro, but I can play pretty good at times, I just need a good fitter and we just don't have one around here. Sorry for the rambling response, but I'm just experimenting "out of the box" for a while. My spin numbers are just through the roof. I'm hoping by getting these down and bringing my launch angle down it's going to give me 10-15 more yards on average. If this doesn't work, I may go to the "kingdom". Lessons could be an option, but at this point in my golf life, dramatic change just isn't going to happen. I'm gonna dance with what I've got. Which is pretty good when my short game is on.
