SR3 Shaft on Nickent 4dx Driver... Is it even any good?

or should I just plan on swaping it out now?

I have heard this shaft is a little whippy to say the least... I got the driver for free with the purchase of 2 hybrid irons and I was wondering if anyone had any experice with it. I was thinking about putting an Aldila One in low launch stiff, because I have one lying around. But from what I have heard is this is already a low launching club.

Some LM numbers to my swing are (Using a 9* Lynx LX2):
Swing speed: 105, Launch angle: 16, Total Distance 280

Any advice would be great! Thanks!

SR3 is too spinny for solid/fast swings IMO, not a terrible shaft, but not great either. The head is superb and upgrading the shaft is really worth it IMO. Check ebay for some great aldila deals, you can get some good shafts for very little.

Not to put you on the spot but do you mind recommending a low launch shaft from that seller aldilacloseouts which would be fairly cheap price... on a budget :rolleyes: unfortunatly... I need to put together an order from that guy stat ... Need like 3 shafts. Also, what is the tip diameter on the 4dx driver?

.350 on the "retail" model.....335 if its got the tour version with the "T" on it...

why not try an Aldila NV in it, if the SR3 isn't to your liking (and i suspect that you won't like it--my wife *hated* the L-flex SR3 in her 3DX Square)? you already play it in your Lynx driver. or do you not like the NV?

Not a huge fan of the NV... I have launch issues with it (or it could be my swing) where I get it up too high. I was hoping for something with a more boring angle of attack.

guess you could try an Aldila One, though all i saw on aldilacloseouts were X-Flex models. maybe the NVS-85 in an S-flex is the ticket for you--might be heavy enough to keep you from ballooning (even though it has a softer tip than the NV). or an NV-55 in an X-flex. guess you'll have to experiment. who knows, you might even like the SR3 (but i doubt it).

Tried the 4dx tspec head, 10.5*, with the stock shaft and was hitting alot of high and rights. Changed it out for a "R" flex V2 and the thing turned into a straight bomber. I hit this combo longer and straighter than anything else from all the other oems. Could not believe how straight this thing was. The only other club that really came close in distance and direction was the Nike non square 5000, also with the V2 "R" flex shaft. This head is a real sleeper IMO.

I am currently looking on Ebay for a 4DX driver, but I can only find them with the SR3 shaft. My swing speed is 95-ish, and I normally play a regular flex shaft. If the SR3 is really whippy, would I be better off getting the stiff flex? Do these shafts not play true to their flex, i.e., is the "stiff" more of a "firm"?

My swingspeed is 98-103, so I'm similar to you. I tried the stiff flex in the SR3 and it still felt whippy, even at my swingspeed, and I don't overpower too many shafts (currently play a YS6 stiff). Another shaft I tried and did not care for at all was the YSQ made for Adams.

Alright, Getting ready to put on a new shaft on the driver, but the head is .35 and shaft is .335 ... Anyone have any experience with a shim (tip adaptor) anything that I need to be aware of? Thanks!
