Any Recommendations for Bushnell V2

I'm looking for a laser range finder, good up to at least 250 yds and very light weight, any recos?

I've tried the Bushnell V2, seems OK for about $300.00

If you like the V2 - Bushnell's Scout 1000 for hunting is the same unit with a much better price plus $50 rebate. I have the scout and have a hard time picking up a limp flag past 250 - but I can get the front of the green etc.

Leupolf GX-1, I use this and is great light weight etc should be able to pick up for less than 300

Get the 1500TE. It is much better in my opinion. I found it easier to aim and it seemed to acquire the target quicker. Yes, I know, it is $100 more...

I have had a few, but bought the Bushnell Pinseeker 1500 over a year ago and it is fantastic! The key difference is that it has a little circle in the middle and it shows you the CLOSEST thing in that circle. No longer afraid of getting something beyond the flag either. Prior to this, I had to scan slowly left to right trying to pick out the flag from background trees, etc. Now it is point and in seconds can pick it out of everything.

It is great when you can sit in the parking lot of the course and look at the green of the first hole par 5 and see it is 894 yards away!

There are two things about it I did not like initially. The first is that it is much bigger. My previous laser rangefinder (also a Bushnell) was small and easily fit in my pocket. When I bought the 1500, my plan was to use both. If playing in a cart and needing to walk to my ball, I would carry the small one. That lasted about 30 seconds! The 1500 is just so much easier to use, I gave my other range finder away.

The second negative was it is more expensive; around $400 retail (a little more for the non-legal version with slope adjustment which is what I have!), but there are always deals out there. However, now that I have one, I would never recommend anything less!

I have to agree with the previous poster. The 1500TE is the one to get. The pinseeker functionality is a necessity for me. For someone who's hands shake quite a bit, I have no problem getting a proper target in a couple of seconds. I've even been able to get the flag from the tee on a par 5, ~580 yards. I know that's not necessary for most people. But when you're looking for a layup yardage, being able to hit the pin at 300+ yards is very useful.

Take a look at the Bushnell Elite 1500 on Amazon. I think they can be had for about $300 and are the exact same thing as the Pinseeker TE.

I have a nikon 800 and I like it and it works well - but after using a friends Bushnell 1500 I like his better. However you can get a nikon for $200 and the 1500 is $300 - so there is a big price difference (ebay/amazon prices).

Double check on this one. I didn't see a pinseeker function on this model. The pinseeker function is what makes the Pinseeker TE such a great rangefinder. You can have severe shakes and still get a yardage in a couple of seconds.

V2 has the Pinseeker function, it's light and compact and works great. Also being able to hold it vertically in one hand makes it very easy to acquire the target.

The Bushnell Scout 1000 is about $100 less plus a $50 rebate available through the end of the year than the V2 version. It's "Bullseye" mode is the same as the "Pinseeker" mode in the V2...these are identical units with a different logo. For $20 less you can get the camo version.

I have had the Elite 1500 for about 2 years now and I have no problems at all picking up any yardages. I am not exactly sure what the difference is with the pinseeker function. I have not been able to compare them side by side, but I have never misclubbed because of the distance using the Elite 1500 and I only paid about $300 or so. I can shoot bunkers, trees, flags, whatever and the yardage is dead on. You are doing yourself a disservice if you don't at least check it out. You might have to go to your local hunting store, but at least check it out if you are interested in getting probably the best deal in rangefinders.

edited to add: I just checked Amazon and it looks like they currently have the Pinseeker at $80 off and that makes it about $320. It looks like the Elite price has gone up also, making the Pinseeker the cheaper of the two for the moment.

For comparison purposes, I'd at least look at the Leica CRF 1200. It's the smallest, lightest, brightest and most accurate one available. Unfortunately, it's also far and away the most expensive.

The optics are so good you can use it as a 7X monocular and in that capacity it's probably better than 99% of the optics on the market.

I use mine to scope flags at the driving ranges, so that I can tell how "Dead" the range balls are, and if my distances are what I expect for the day. Nice to compare distances against my Skycaddie SG-5 also, but they are always within 1-2 yards when I check.

I bought mine for target shooting, to range cans and bottles out in the sticks, but I now play more golf than go shooting, so it lives in my bag now.

Buy once, cry once.
