Cally FT-5... low spin head?

Do you need high SS?

People on this board list the Ft-5 as quite a low spin head.

My question is: do you need a fast SS to make the most of this club?

What if you hit a 13 degree high loft version??

Or can a 90mph/mid-handicap golfer still make this clubhead perform?

The Tour Models (half degree lfots) are lower spin than the non-Tour. I swing between 95 and 105 (depending on lots of things), and play the 9.5 Tour with R flex DVS shaft. I have a 10 degree which flies much higher than the 9.5 (I use I-Mix). The key is the shaft for the head and your swing. Use Optifit cart at golf shop, try a bunch of different ones, though I do like the DVS as it can take smooth or fast temp swing and kicks well. Great driver choice, just need to match your swing to loft/shaft combo.

Get fit with the Opti Fit cart fitting system. The right shaft is a WORLD of difference. I almost didn't purchase mine after using the stock shaft, but then found the Aldila NVS 65 with the 10* draw head to be the BOMB.

 

After several rounds, I noticed the NVS head was spinning too much and I wasn't getting much roll, and I didn't feel like I needed the draw head.

 

I recently purchased a 10* with a Diamana BlueBoard, and WOW. Slightly lower trajectory and honestly I'm getting about 10-15 yards in total distance, probably because of roll out. AND pinpoint accuracy.

 

My swing speed is around 100.

No, you do not need a high swing speed for an FT-5. My 12 y/o daughter games one with a Fuji Sakura Sport shaft and so far, hits it straight and long everytime. It will all depend on what shaft you put in it. Thanks.
