I had a set of 710MB's but not for long,it exemplified to me the way that manufacturers farm out their production to the Far East and sell an inferior product at top dollar. They cost me £600+ and were meant to be a 'custom' build as I'm a lefty. They arrived with solvent drips down the shafts, half the grips on crooked and a 1mm overhang on the ferrules where they were not polished off.A complete joke and I will NEVER buy any new Titleist product again, after years of playing Titleist balls I've also switched allegiance.Bottom line is that they are all asking premium prices for a name tag and image and not for a quality product.
The 690.mb's are ten times the quality of the current sets.

Did you buy from an authorized retailer? That could explain the poor assembly.

Titleist stuff...

No room for hybrids here.
I love long irons. Note the "not-dot" 2-iron.

Fairway shaft is grafally stiff - works for me...

I still prefer this 3-wood compared to the newer offerings. Lovely feel off the face.

Old, but still keeps up with the new boys.

Driver hozel

Driver shaft specs. It's a 66g V2.

The classic head shape of the 905

I use a bog standard black nickel 54* vokey. Notice how slim the sole is - like the 690 PW.

Don't be fooled by the numbers - it's actually bent to 59* and hand ground how I like it...
Similar to other grinds I suppose...

This is what I call the "seaside grind". Basically my personal grind to help playability from firm, tight links course...

Narrow sole and trailing edge relief. Excellent bunker club.

Nice headcover.

The favourite putter at the moment. Sticking with it for the foreseeable future.

Notice the dent? Dropped it by accident. D'oh!

One thing I always carry in my bag. A purse for valuables. Why? My daughter made it for me. Everybody say ahhh...

Every bag should have a lucky charm. This is mine - an old Titleist pro traj in 1.62 inch.

This is how I mark the pro V's. Takes ages!

Everyone should have one of these..

The blade at address. How can you not like 'em?

One of the best blades made IMHO

The bag - s82 staff. Just the job.

My 3 wedge system. 48-54-59. No need for a gap W. Works for me....

Hope you like...pretty boring if you don't like Titleist!

Wow, never been a big titleist fan, but may have to change that. Nice pics and post, thanks.

Well, here is a classic example of changing the bag to suit course conditions. If anyone is unaware, the UK seems to be going through the wettest drought in recent memory. The greens are soft and receptive, the fairways are lush and verdant, and consequently a different approach has to be made to find a better scoring solution.
Step forward the new current bag:

The 660's are back in play. If anything, I'm learning to appreciate the different flight and use it to find a good compromise between distance and trajectory. it seems to work at the moment, but come summer with harder and tighter fairways, it might be a different story - we'll see.
It is actually rediculous, joined a links course last week and it was soaked!

That is a great bag. Currently am using the 905s and 904f fairway woods, and wish I could work in more classic Titleist gear.

I guess it's about time I updated my bag.

The ill-fated S-56 set up:

...lovely clubs but sadly not to be. Die hard forged fans need not apply. Sad really - I even got the bag to match lol.

...not to mention an i15 hybrid..

..and an i15 3-wood just for fun. Neither worked out that well really.

Eagled eyed former fans of the bag may have spotted the return of Fredo the Frog head cover.

Putter remains the stalwart Anser 2 in stainless.

...anyhoo - went back to the Stadry bag...

...filled it up with Titleist mojo...

..and karma is restored.
Still awaiting the return of my 690MB's courtesy of my son (only uses them for bag cred) who mooched them away during summer.
Driver is (currently) the 983K in 10.5 degree with Fujikura Fit on 11 six stiff full bore insertion. An absolute beauty.

I've still got the the HJ donated Grafalloy PFC60S (thanks Howard) to fall back on when it gets windy. Currently paired with a 909D3. The 905S with UST V2 in 66g remains in the rotation when the need is felt.

Newest addition (shock horror!) is the 909 F2 15.5 3-wood with Diamana Blueboard 73S.

Yup it's the real deal shaft - tipped at 1". Not that it's got a lot to live up to - it's only got to replace the 980F that's been in the bag for 8+years! Initially testing has been pretty good.
There you have it for the time being. More clubs coming and going this winter until the bag is finally set for spring.
Did I say custom grind 990's? lol - might be out next week.

I love old school bags like this! how do you like the SM4 wedges?
Pretty good actually. They're as good as anything else in the market - just a great sole grind combined with an appealing visual appearance address is all you can ask for really. I hand ground an old 200 series myself (the old seaside grind) but Bob does it much better than me lol.

jaskanski so what exactly happened to the s56's? why did they get the boot? got a set of the 681's which I break out on occasions, good looking blade but I am a Mizuno man to all tense and purposes!
It was mostly a feel thing - although I would happily put them back into play if I replaced the original DG's with KBS. Which reminds me - I really must update my witb thread...

funnily I had a fitting the other week at Celtic manor with Mizuno and I have played s300 mostly all my life until a bit of tennis elbow the last few months and I switched to ns pro but the fitting came up with Kbs by far and away the best shaft for me, and should be easy on the joints! at least I hope so!

Well - it's been a helluva few months. The bag has undergone some major makeovers, not least of which is to the change of my preferred choice of iron shafts - shock horror!
The updates start from March 1st which remember distinctly because I made Welsh Rarebit:

Mizuno MP-52's were the first to come across my path...

...Fitted with KBS Tour stiffs - interesting...

...Purchased and shafted up a Fli-Hi 3-iron to match the set...

....and the the matching 2-iron (naturally :) )

...and a Bettinardi for good measure

..then a swap to MP-32's....nice....

...added a bit of CLK but didn't like it...

...switched to a mallet style with larger grip for a week or two....

...when one day - I found this...

..an absolute beauty. many putts holed instantly...

Titleist fix restored - a used Grafalloy Prolaunch Red Hybrid crossed my path...

...and duly replaced the 585H's DGSL shaft..

Finally - AP2's shafted up with KBS Tour stiff completed the set. The switch was long winded and exhaustive, but they've really grown on me. Let's face it, I'm not getting any younger and the added forgiveness of the AP2's (without giving up much playability or feel) is just what the doctor ordered.

The finished bag (for now lol)...

There you have it. Eagle-eyed observers will notice the return of Fredo the frog headcover for the 585H, the return of the 980F 3-wood (love it) and the old 975 headcover on the 983K, because 983 headcovers always wear out. The only downside of the set up? Modern Titleist irons wear quickly - the PW is already browning :(
