Is the Callaway CX Pro any good?

I see these at Walmart all of the time and was wondering if they are any good?

I bought a dozen about a month ago. Didnt get to the course. I try them around the practice green and if they arent good there then they are "not worthy" to go out on the course.

Wal-Mart has some sort of deal with Callaway to produce these balls only for their stores. That is why you will not see the CX3 Pro (nor the other three: CXR, CXB, CX3 Hot) at any other retailer besides Wal-Mart.

 

Based on this knowledge, I would make the assumption that they are not very good. Being available at Wal-Mart only leads me to believe they are getting them at a very low cost, also meaning, the technology, research, and manufacturing costs that go into making the balls are not very much either for Callaway to be able to sell them at such a low cost to WM.

 

Just my opinion, though. If they work for you, use them.

The CX Pro sells for $29.99. Callaway customer service told me that this is a repackaged Strata ball. The same goes for the other CX Hot and CX3.

back in the day, when I was in the ski business, the big box stores used to have special make up skis made for them.

they'd use the same colors as the most popular ski they made (say, the teal that Rossignol made famous with the 4S), call it the ES and sell it to every one who walked in the door as the 4S made just for us, so we can sell it to you for less. What they didn't tell you was that it was a cheap foam filled piece of crap.

 

So like the J-mAN says, buyer beware. You have no idea what you are getting.

Funny, 'cause Golf Town claims they're exclusive to them. Note they're also in the 'clearance centre', but I wouldn't call $25/dz. a clearance price especially when at the same store you can get HX Tours for $5 more or HX Hot for $5 less. I certainly won't be testing them after getting burned with a double dozen CX1 pack from Costco last year - repackaged rocks!

Good work Baconator! Everything I had seen before your post stated they were "exclusive" to Wal-Mart.

 

Either way, I think we can all agree that you shouldn't waste your money on these.

 

Spend your $25 on something else.

I played the CX pros today(gift from Dad) and I REALLY liked this ball. I normally play an NXT Tour but have found them hard to spin around the greens. This ball played much better from 100 yards and in and putted really nice.

 

Whichever old ball model they used to create this ball must have been pretty good. I wouldn't walk away from them just because of their distro channel. I'm a 4 hc and have tried just about every kind of ball; these were actually a nice surprise.

I just picked up a box at Wal-Mart for S**t's N Giggles. They don't have the hex pattern, but I really don't like that anyway. They feel soft off the putter in my house, but it's 9* outside right now. Anyone else tried these?
