Putter restorations?

Hi guys,
Well the golf season is pretty much over where I'm from, so I'm looking forward to trying some putter refinishing. I've never refinished a putter before (or anything else for that matter), so I have no clue what I'm doing. I did some searches and saw some cool oil finishes, but I don't think either of the two putters I have would work with that. The two putters (pics attached) are old putters from the lost and found at the course I work at (they've been there for over 2 years...so I don't think anyone is coming back for them). The first one is a Futura XL7 by Dagg.....I've never heard of this company and I'm assuming its probably just some old low end putter. The other putter is a MacGregor Tourney Iron Master. I'm not sure what the Dagg is made out of, but obviously the Mac is plated (chrome I would guess). Is there anyway to refinish these putters beyond simple polishing and buffing? I read that painting them is a bad idea as it usually comes off pretty quick and looks gross due to chipping. Are there any finishes I can do? I wanted to try the oil can, but from what I read it only works with carbon steel putters. Are there any recommended techniques to remove plating? Any tips or suggestions for these putters in general? I'm not really expecting great results, this is more just something fun to keep me occupied.

You can use this bit to remove the nicks from those putters...
