What you're doing with your swing is what I used to do with mine.

First off, here is a swing video of Ernie Els, it is textbook. (click and hold the circle to see it in slow motion and stop it at the point where he starts his downswing and compare it to your picture)

here

In your picture you have a really good shoulder turn and your left arm is fully extended which is great. The only small problem is with your right arm. Your right wrist looks like it breaks down too much at the top.

I'm not going to make any major recommendations on your technique because they will proabley be horribly wrong... but I highly recommend comparing your swing to pictures/videos, watching it in the mirror, and most of all, getting lessons from a good pro.

Good luck with your swing, I hope I helped a little lol.

I kind of looked like that a few weeks ago, but I knew what the root cause of it was. I had an early wrist **** that also came inside quickly in my takeaway, so now I just feel that I am taking the club away with my shoulders only to eliminate the early wrist action. There can be numerous causes of why it's laid off, but that was my problem and it helped me.

No desrespect to anyone else but i am a golf pro and teaching pro and don't lissen to these answers or you will end up messing around with your hole swing.

the first thing you need to do is ask yourself if you are unhappy with your ball striking, if the answer is no then don't change anything. If you are unhappy with your balll stricking find a good pro in your area and set up some lessons. You also have to remember that you are going to get worse before you get better when making a change like that so if you are not commited to making change don't bother.

Ernie Els and lots of guys on tou have great swings but we are all Ernies Els. The number one thing about a good golf swing is that it repeats itself the same every time. Eg. Jim Fyruk.

I hope this helps

I am a 10 so it's not like I'm miserable out there, but there is a lot of room for improvement in my ball striking. My putting is probably more of an issue but I am working on it as well. I think I have a lot of potential and that is why I'm interested in making changes. I love to practice so that is a non-issue.

As far as the swing is concerned, you can tell my spine angle has changed. I think if I can maintain the angle created at address it would shorten my swing and get rid of my past parallel issue as well. Sounds great on paper, dam execution part is always the hardest!

First off it is hard to tell with a still photo because you don't know exactly where you are at in your swing and if you are just possing then your swing could be totally different.

Going by what you said in your last post about having a long swing this picture could very well be the downswing of said swing and if so there is nothing wrong with it you are just dropping your swing slightly to the inside on your downswing which is a move about 80% of the amatuers out there would love to have instaed of the dreaded over the top move.

In any effect you should do as others said and look for a Certifeid Instructor and have him or her look at your swing and even film it all the way through so you can see for yourself what exactly you are doing in your swing and if it is something you need to fix or just leave alone.

The one thing I preach in my teaching is simplicity and not to get to technical with the swing. Sometimes we tend to over think our swings and would just be better off swinging the club and worring about the result instead of so much the proccess.

Either way good luck and fee free to PM me with any questions...........

Looks like a good position to me. Alot of great players had that same top of backswing position. ;)
