Who uses a belly putter?

I've used to play with a normal putter until I tried a bellyputter, just for the fun of it. That day I saw the light ;)!!! Those 10-15 footers dropped like never before. The next day I transformed my 2 ball blade into a belly putter (long shaft, long grip, extra weight). From that time on it seemed impossible to miss those short few-footers. The first months I struggled a bit with the longer putts. But that is al sorted out now, it just took a little getting used too.

I'm playing with a TM Rossa Monza mid for 2 years now (as soon as I thought the belly was here to stay I bought a real one). And every time I try a normal putter I find it a lot more difficult and less trustworthy than my belly.

Who recognizes this story (or the opposit) and playes a belly as well? What is your favorite belly putter? What kind of grip do you use (I use the a normal putting grip)?

I have been testing a Voodoo belly putter.

Long putts for me are easy, it's the short ones that I miss ;)

It may be the user, not the tool. I am still testing to see if I can stop the push to the rights. So far, if I set up dead square, and rock my shoulders only, I can putt straight (this is carpet testing in the house).

I've tried all things, ball position, eye position, different gripping, and takaways, and all seemed to work some, but then a right hit of the target would show up. I know it's an open putter face and swing path issue.

I picked up this belly putter during a very cold day, and my Callie had a twitch to the left that day, and with a quick trip to the putting green with the belly, it seemed easier to roll the ball, so I bought it. I have also putted some with my Yes! Callie again, and the belly putting seems to help my stroke with the Callie. It's putting great again, and I will have a hard time to switch back to the belly.

I will continue to test the Voodoo, and see what it can do.

BTW, this is my first Never Compromise putter and I like the looks/feel of it.

Well, the swingpath with a belly putter is more in-to-in than with a normal putter. Perhaps is the difference with a normal putter swingpath too big to overcome for you. Perhaps it just takes time to get used too the different timing. Another explanation is an askew grip. Or perhaps your just not a bellyperson. I dunno ;)

Well.....I do have a somewhat flat belly... :fool: Maybe I need to eat more :D

The belly putter does work, my brother switched to one and the next weekend he shot -16 to win a tournament. He said he had the rights with his also, and I need to get with him to see what he did to fix it.

Do you have any problem on long putts (really long ones) that the end in the belly does not stay anchored?

Where do you position the ball at? Center and front of center is where I'm setting it up at.

The best move I've found on the take-a-way is, rock your right shoulder up, and then down for the stroke.

That's great! I never shot under par but I did made rounds with around 26-28 putts. And I count the ones of the fringe or further (I hit everything with the putter if reasonably possible).

 

The putter stays anchored all the time, takes a little flexibility of the wrists though.

 

I position the ball under my left eye, very basic but I get a nice roll on it.

 

I keep your tip in mind the next time I'm going to practice. I've got a tip for you as well. Grip the putter 3 inches from the butt-end. This gives you better posture but more importantly, your hands don't have to move as much, keeping your movement compact and controllable. You have to use the wrists a little bit more but it works very good for me!

I've got a 'lil b ping belly and love it and am lookin to turn my Zing into a belly putter as well. Is it easy to do it by yourself or should i play it safe and bring it in?

I work in a golfshop so it was easy for me. I made the shaft longer (I've put an extention in the shaft) and put a long odyssey putter grip on it, this was very difficult because it was stuck and it took two men to put it on. After this you have to stick loads of ledtape on your putter for a better balans (stock belly putters have heavier heads). I think it is best to bring your putter too a clubfitter to avoid trouble and irritation. Unless you think you can do it yourself.
