TGC production team haven't yet figured out that the majority of viewers don't have high definition sets, but persist in placing the crawl of scores off the top of the standard screen. ABC figured it out and put the scores at the bottom so that everyone could follow all of the players.

I've seen the scroll cut off at top and bottom of the screen on various sites, but Golf Channel's current offering on top is remarkably ignorant. I can see half the height, or less, and there is no way I can make it out. It gives me a headache to even try.

 

I thought for sure they would be bombarded with complaints and a change would be made within a week. I'm beyond astonished it persists.

 

Anyway, great news for LPGA golf, but as Debit says, the caliber of coverage needs to dramatically improve. In recent years the LPGA coverage on Golf Channel has been aimless wandering, particularly in the opening two rounds, lack of a coherent theme with seemingly random views of various players without setting up the shot or describing the course. ESPN coverage has been markedly better, although Kay Cockerill on Golf Channel is very good, providing insight into specific players.

I love watching women's golf. These ladies play courses that are the same length as the courses I play, hit the ball as far as I do, and would absolutely wipe the course with my Word not allowed... I learn something new every time I watch.

 

If someone really wants to improve their course management just watch what these women do... brilliant. :clapping:

i think it's a great move for both parties. i'm a huge fan of this vicky hurst girl- she's got game and is cute as heck! wie looks like the christmas grinch- i can't stop but chuckle, and gag when she gets interviewed.

 

wie and lewis seem to be the LPGA answer to kim and villegas. much easier on the eyes, though. maybe now there will be fewer repeats and more womens' oriented programming so my wife will be a bit more interested...

Definitely glad the LPGA is going to have a home now for some time, watching it now as a matter of fact! (TGC in HD! One of my favorite channels.) Hopefully it'll garner some more interest, having regular television coverage.

I saw Vicky H. play at the last stop of the Duramed Futures Tour. At the time I had no clue who she was (I went to see Kim W.). The Kangol really got my attention, the smile she gave me as she drove by didnt hurt either.

 

I might start sporting Kangols this summer too. She reminds me of a Toucan today, with that bright yellow she's wearing today. Minus the beak of course.

Cosign. I love watching the women because I can relate as much or more to their game/swing speed. This is great news. LPGA is vastly underrated, IMO. If you haven't been to a women's event, I'd highly recommend it. Very impressive display.

So, Michelle Wie finishes at 6 under... and we only got to see the front nine? Why is the GC only giving the LPGA 2 hours of coverage? It is really a shame... Heck, the Euro's get 3 hours a day; and I guarantee you more Americans would rather watch the LPGA over the Malasian Open!

Glad to see that it will be easy to find the LPGA, but really who else were they going to sign a TV contract with? I think only the Korean TV networks are clamoring for the product. The LPGA will only start to get better when they get rid of Blivens as commish.

 

I agree that Golf Channel should have much more tournament coverage, including the Futures tour.

 

As for the off screen score scroll, that is completely idiotic on their part. Stupid, stupid, stupid. :crazy:

Where have you been? 2 hrs is about all the LPGA ever gets, including majors. The only wire-to-wire coverage I recall was when the Solheim was played in Sweden -- it aired in the middle of the night! Life ain't fair and equity doesn't apply to women's golf. Sure it was lame to have a live feed from Hawaii of only 2 hrs -- no way to see the afternoon players finish. Timing is hardly a concern of GC. The LPGA coverage is very much an afterthought and without much thought. As for those of you predicting Michelle stardom -- believe it when I see it. The kid will likely shoot herself in the foot or higher before the final round.

Actually, I like the fields of the LPGA Tournaments. The playing field between competitors seems more level.

I agree with Cloran; I of course like watching the PGA but have gotten' more into watching the Ladies in how their games relate MUCH more realistically to mine as well as being much easier on the eyes ;) Believe me I would trade games with Angela Stanford all day long, love the way she drives for show AND putts for dough like it's a walk in the park- she schooled Wie yesterday.

 

That being said I agree with Angela when in her interwiew she was asked about Michelle Wie she said that she expects her to be around for a long time. I will go a step further and say as long as she can keep her head on straight and her dad doesn't do anything to mess things up, she has the potential to dominate with a little more time to get adjusted to getting to play every week.
