KZG Irons

Anyone else play these?
Hi all,

I play KZG Tour Evo's and just purchased a set of ZO blades that arrive tomorrow. Anyone else a KZG fan? Which other blades are popular today? So many are oversized that they become hard to look at.

Thanks. It was kinda tough, there are a lot of good looking blades out there. I've liked my tour evos so much I decided to stick with KZG. My friend is looking at the Nike vr's but went with Miuras and I like the Bridestone J36 blades, they look good.

Decided to go with the ZO's. They are amazing looking and from what other posters have said, sounds like a good choice.

I hover between a 1 and 2 hdcp and was a PGA pro for over 12 years, now I haven't hit Scratch irons or Muiras, but the KZG ZO was hands down the best feeling and best ball flight off of an iron I have ever hit. I have tried to walk away from this iron for 5 years and I keep putting them back in my bag.

Now my biggest problem was that the headweights were off, no more than one swingweight, but I did have to tape them. GREAT CLUBS

Funny, because I had a set when they first came out and my swing weights were all off also. I would love to know if it was the heads, shafts, or the person who built them. But they are probably are the best feeling heads I have used. Can't understand why they don't go to retail. Rumor had it when Mickelson was leaving Titleist he used KZ ZO's satin with no markings with PX.

So how would you classify KZG gear? Is it USDM or JDM? It is a US brand but some of the irons are forged in Japan with the woods and hybrids, I believe, made in China. BTW, I still play my CBll M with Vista Pro once in awhile and they are as good as ever.

This is one brand NOT made in China. I got a LONG speech from their president Jennifer King a few years ago when I asked questions about the brand. Very nice lady. Don't cross her.

Does anyone know the swingweight of the ZO's. The website has each clubface in grams. Are they D1, D2, etc? Just curious since some indicate they are a little light compared to others.

You build a club to swingweight, consist of shaft head and grip not just the head.

Right, the club (not clubface). I knew better than that. Anyone know what they are? Thanks.

Depends on the shaft, length, grip, etc., you don't buy these off the rack to a standard spec. Custom only

FWIW, I'm at D3 w/ PX's.

Sorry golfnut, forgot you already play Evos, you knew that. My D3 wasn't too much of a stretch. Minimal tape to match the set up. Should be able to get to whatever you need without too much trouble.

Do the cast KZG feel great as well?

I've owned most of everything they made. The cast feel every bit as soft as the forged. I didn't think it was possible, but it's a great option for those who don't want to put out the extra coin.

I am gaming the KZG Forged II and loving them!

My brother in law is still gaming these after 5 seasons and won't change for ANYTHING.

I don't have nearly the game for blades by a long shot, but I went ahead and bought a set of KZG ZOs. I'm not really comfortable with them, but when I do play them at least they keep my ball in-bounds (toe shots going nowhere FTW). Anyway, they're sweet enough that I wouldn't even consider selling them. I plan on holding the irons until I am good enough to play them consistently. Also, as a blade, they are sexy as hell in satin. Seriously...no paint, minor stamping, smooth, and no chrome to get nicks. *drools* I really have not seen as sleek a blade as they offer by anyone, including Miuras and Epons.

  • 2 weeks later...

I am awaiting my KZG left-handed cavity back IIM's. Note these are a completely different style from the traditional cavity back IIM's. Loved the feel and the look is very minimalist and contemporary with a thin top line. Since I am a mid handicapper, it gives me the forgiveness of a cavity back but gives me enough room and incentive to improve so as to be able to use the irons to their fullest potential.
