Golds Factory cb's & Miura 201cb's

Might be drinking some JDM koolaid. Looking at these two irons and in terms of playability, feel, craftsmanship and performance what can you tell me about them.

I haven't played the Gold's Factory stuff, but you can't go wrong with the Miuras. Having played miuras for the past 3 years, all I can say is that I have no thought of even trying another iron. Miuras' offer the softest feel and are very playable. Craftsmanship is also top notch.

 

The 201s are nice, but if you have the money and can find a set, the ultimate set, IMHO, is the On-Off 247 (forged by miura). I guess that is why I have two tour van sets of them.

These are just my opinions:

 

The Gold's are slightly more forgiving. Feel is outstanding in both, but the Miura's do feel a tad softer, with the Gold's having a slight click feel in comparison. The Miura's are slightly more workable. Both are excellent clubs. I would rate the quality equal as both sets are forged in Japan.

 

It's very possible that it could come down to what fits the eye the best. The Gold's top line and sole are slightly wider.

 

Without hitting them side by side, a very tough call.

 

I don't have the Miura set anymore but I do have the Gold's set. I can't get myself to part with them. Can post pics if needed.

If Golds is back making iron sets, it not on their website as of this posting or on Tour Spec. Word from Tour Spec was Sasaya was only making wedges and putters, no more irons.

He is making Irons again. I know it very limited and is not posted any where as of yet.

 

He is buying the Heads from Kyoei. They are the same heads Vega used to make their anniversary edition.

I was under the impression he made his own heads, hand forged them himself. Is he just a grinder/finisher?

I prefer the Miura's but they are both good.

I asked this question over at TSG as early his GF's early releases. You have to piece it together but it seems that is all he does, don't forget the stamping and the inserts though :)

i am pretty sure it would be almost impossible to hand forge golf irons and if you did it wouldnt look good. as by hand forging i mean hitting then yourself. alot of confusion with handmade stuff

One of the very best in the World.

 

Whether it's a Putter, Irons or Wedges he starts with the highest quality "Heads" available from the very best forging houses in Japan. He has been known to hand pick the heads he transforms in to works of art.

 

If you are after the highest quality, hand finished custom clubs in the World, this is the place.

 

Needless to say they don't come cheap....

Poncho loves it when I chip out back. He brings the ball back and sets it down exactly where I hit it from and is very careful not to damage the ball. The hardest part was getting him to sit off to the side until I was finished hitting the ball. He is so excited to go get it he would get in the way of the swing. He has down perfect now.

Tour Spec has these clubs back on the websie. They are the last of the old runs. The "mold" is broken so no more or new ones will be made. About 70 sets total for the cbs and mbs. I have the MB with Nippon 950 and love these clubs. Hats off to Golds.
