Looking for a good drill with driver

I have always had the same swing fault, in transition from the top I slide in front of the ball, and from that I am always hitting down on the tee ball which results in low drives with tons of spin. Any quick drills I could do to try and stay behind the ball a little better. I have been doing a little chin right at the top like Jack and its a pretty good band aid but not a fix. Any drills you could recomend would be great thanks.

What you can use to stop the slide is take a broken shaft or pole, stick it in the ground touching the heel of your lead foot, where it will line up with your hips and legs. When your set up is correct, your front leg will not hit the shaft. During your follow thru, your goal is to not have your lead leg/hip hit the shaft and your belt buckle should face the shaft at the finish. If you have a problem with swaying back also, you can use two shafts, one for the front and one for the back leg. Again the goal is to not hit the shafts with your hips with either your takeaway or follow thru. You want to feel a turn back and thru, instead of a slide.

I was at the range the other day hitting balls, and there was a kid there with good speed, doing the same thing as you described, and after showing him this drill, it was an absolutely HUGE difference.

Hope this helps

i have this problem as well and tried this drill today and loked it as well, but it seems to give me the feeling that im laying back and keeping all my weight on my back leg which produces a high fade. Maby when I first started playing my remedy for my beginners slice was sliding all my weight forward to prevent it, and maby thats why when I miss it now it is a huge duck hook.

Anyway, is there a drill that I can do with the broken shaft that assures that I get my hands/lower body around to make sure I have good weight shift and don't hit that high fade?

If your hitting a high fade, that means you are not releasing the club. One drill for that is hit with your feet together. When you swing, you want to hit duck hooks or a draw. This drill will also help with swaying. If you fall foward, you are unbalanced, and have shifted too much weight on your front foot.

With the feet together drill, you will need to use the muscles from your upper body and midsection to get the ball out there.

You can also swing a baseball bat to help your hands release. you want to feel your forearms roll over one another.

i have never seen a drill that comes with a driver :clapping: what are you planning to drill? and why do you need a golf club?

Kenny,

You are an idiot. Where do you think of these things? If it's not on one golf forum it's on another, your posts are amazingly stupid.

Time to get back on the meds again....

A good way to counter this fault without going to the range is by putting your left leg agianst a wall or a pole at work or at home, put ur arms across ur chest and just do ur swing and make sure u twist without hitting the wall. Just repeat this until u think it will stick ( make sure no1 is watchin while u do this, its hard to explain)
