Best top line ball

I recently switched to the top flite gamer. This ball is far superior to prov1 / pro v1 x, bridgestone, callaway hx tour, srixon or taylormade. Any one else think this is the best ball out there? Suprised not more tour use. Spin, control and distance. The real deal. Comments welcome.

all golf balls are different for everyone, so theres really no need for criticism, and i feel the gamer is very underated, however, i dont believe it the best, but thats my opinion

I agree with you that ever ball will not work for everyone. I wasn't trying to rip him. My question about him being serious was mainly on the scale of is this a joke thread. I personally have played the Gamer a couple of times and it was a very good ball. Kinda tore up a bit easy but other than that was not bad.

i don't know if they've improved this year's version, but the 2008 model was the least durable ball i've ever played. I bought one box and only used 1-2 of them. Plus they felt awful off the irons. And i'm someone who doesn't mind using the 20$ balls on occasion

It's a good ball, but it's not even close to being a ProV, B330, Z Star or TP Red or Black. In my opinion, the absolute best bang for your buck are the TaylorMade Burners. Great ball.

I haven't read anything anywhere that has given that type of comparison, has anyone seen any comparison charts with the gamer?

If it comes down to low-priced balls, the Gamer is a good choice. However, I think that the D2 Feel is better and softer, not to mention cheaper. I used these balls when I was just starting out playing (for the fear of losing premium balls on water hazards or OBs). I just started using ProV1s and TM Red TP, and they are way better than the D2 Feel or the Gamer. However, I still don't mind using the D2 Feel or the Gamer.

Ya, I prefer the D2 feel over the gamer.

 

They both are really decent balls for the price, but when it comes to overall quality - spin, durability, etc they just don't stack up against a premium ball. Now if you are looking for a ball with similar feel to a premium but less spin the D2 is a pretty good option, but they aren't quite premium balls.

I really really wanted to like the Gamer. Hated the first box. Tried another a month or so later and hated it just as much. Oh well. At least they were smart enough to get Kenny Mayne to endorse it. That got me to buy two boxes! :russian_roulette: For the smae price though, you can get last year's Srixons and they are sweet.

I also like the Gamer, but love the D2 feel better, I agree with everyone it is as good as a ball out there for the money it feels good around the greens may do all the things you want it to do. It works fine for me I can hit iron and wedge full shots and the ball will stop just like a high dollar ball. Distance wise they are great as well. Sound like I should be working for them. You need to try these. Also some people don't realize most golfers doesn't try to check ball up and stop them, alot of guys chip and let the ball roll out just like a putt.

the gamer just shreds too easilly, I usually like to lose balls in the woods before they're too scuffed up to play

 

and more often than not I had to retire my gamers because they were all tore up, often after just 3-4 holes they'd be looking pretty rough

I have used both the gamer and d2 feel. I am a +1 handicap for what it is worth. The d2feel was inconsistent for distance, I would get jumpers frequently. One 7 iron would go 150 yards, then one would go 170. The gamer is consistent although does scuff. The Gamer is a decent ball for the shoulder seasons.

I found the Gamer to be not too long, ok feeling but the cover is terrible. Like others I found it got scarred up after just a couple holes. I tried it, it didn't wow me.

I for the longest refused to pay for premium balls. Used to love the Top flight exception spin balls years ago. Think for the money the Bridgestone e5 was as good as any premium. However I have settled on the Bridgestone 330s. I figured I would spend the money on balls, Just finished the 2 dozen TP reds I bought in August last year so balls dont go quick with me.

I've been using the D2 feel this season. So far I'm very impressed. I'm about a 4, pretty high spin player and have used the pro v1x in the past. And I'm laughing at some of the comments here. sure these balls don't check quite as well, but it's hilarious when a 15 handicap starts talking about only using pro v's or any other premium ball. anyone who swings less that 100mph shouldn't use premium balls and anyone who's not a single digit probably can't tell the difference between them anyway.

the fact is, most players can't control their spin enough to take advantage of a ball like the prov, but they see the commericals and think that is helps them.

i'll continue to use these $1 balls and will continue to laugh when another hack tells me about the next $5 balls that's gonna help them get down to a 19 this season.
