Clubs Stolen

Need input to rebuild
My clubs were stolen this weekend, and I need to rebuild my entire bag. (I was on a golf trip, so the bag had everything--EVERYTHING--in it.) Now I need to rebuild. You can see what was in my bag before. I will definitely buy the same woods (if I can find the Fit-On 11 Pro 95 shaft in a 905s), but I'm thinking about switching irons.

I play blades. I like a very soft feel, a relatively low launch and a lot of workability. I'm interested in hearing thoughts on MP-60, RAC TP, J 33b, CG 1, 695 MB and anything else.

Thanks.

Weird - Just Sunday my wife & I were joking about how we had almost $5000 in my trunk bewtween our bags. That sucks partner. I hope you have some kind of insurance to cover it. Non golfers don't realize how much a bag of good equipment is valued it. Good luck replacing, and that toilet thief will burn in eternal hell for stealing a club whore's clubs. If my bag got stolen I would replace them almost exactly to the stick. Good Luck

...MP-60, RAC TP, J 33b, CG 1, 695 MB and anything else.

Thanks.

Sorry about your clubs.

All the irons listed, including the MP-60s, have narrower soles than your previous MP-32s. On that basis I'd suggest the MP-60s. For a beautiful (looking & feeling) pure blade I'd go with the 695.MB.

Sorry to hear that your clubs were stolen.

I see no reason to switch to other irons, I also play the MP-32s and love them. I orig. had the DynamicGold S-300 shafts, but heard such great things about the NS Pro950 shafts from buddies, so I sent my clubs back to Mizuno and reshafted with the NS. I love the soft, almost graphite shaft-like quality of the NS shafts.

Definitely try this shaft before buying your new irons. If you go with the MP-32s again, the NS shafts are a no-charge option on both the MP-32s as well as the MP-60s.

Hmmm... tough call on the hotel and liability... unless one of the staffers either forgot to lock something up, or was willingly a participant, or the hotel didn't take proper security measures, etc... but I'm not exactly sure... there would (again, I think) a LOT of things that would be difficult to prove. The sad part is that if the you-know-what that stole his clubs is captured and successfully prosecuted, he might actually go after the hotel for something rediculous like not having shatter proof glass in the windows... and win...

Homeowner's personal property coverage would be the most likely way to replace.

I posted a more detailed report of the crime on the T&L section, as a warning and to trash the particular hotel. I will continue to trash the hotel for a sustained period of time--and not because of this single incident, but because a) it happens there a lot, according to a security guard, and b) the hotel was completely unremorseful and offered me nothing, not even an apology!

This is absolutely awful. I feel very sorry for you, especially that you have to spend so much to reconstruct your entire bag. :birthday:

But my only suggestion is that you could use the blood to do DNA test and then find this guy. Otherwise, I guess you're stuck with buying the new bag, which I feel horrible about. It's bad when a guy steals clubs at a driving range, but breaking into a hotel room to steal clubs is just rediculous.

:drinks: ;)

What's the hotel? I'm going on a 4 state golf vacation next week, and Myrtle is one of my stops. Want to make sure I find alternative lodging.

Yeah, perhaps a hit to the hotel's bottom line may change their tune and give them a sense of empathy not to mention my desire to stay the hell as far away from that place as possible next year... and hearing that it happens a lot at the same hotel would make me VERY suspicious about the break-ins being an inside job, at least to some extent...

That SUCKS! I'm sorry man! Geezo! If you liked your previous set, stick with the MP32s. If you were looking for a change, the MP60s are worth a look, as are the CG1s, if you are looking for more of a blade. MP60s are a little more forgiving.

To respond to some of your questions: The hotel is the Compass Cove Resort, on the beach in "main" Myrtle. It's not a great place at any rate, but it offers cheap golf packages.

The MB police did collect blood and fingerprints from the scene and they claim they're going to do DNA testing.

I actually don't think hotels can be held liable for stolen property. If they were, it would open a huge opportunity for fraud. Anybody could claim they had a diamond ring stolen, and it would always be your word against the hotel's. My complaint was mostly with how we were treated and with the hotel's crime history.

As for the clubs, I hit a set of CG1's with the Black Pearl finish yesterday and loved them--extremely soft, great-looking, great ball flight.

Thanks for all the comments.

Take a hard look at the 695 CB's, I am playing them after making the switch from a blade that I have played for 5 years. The CB's are stong lofted and produce a lower ball flight. My Titleist rep talked me into them and I will be sending him a christmas card. It was tough moving out of a blade, I am only 38 and felt as if I was getting old by switching to a CB, but let me tell ya...... My scores and control speak for itself. Because I am Titleist staff, I can play anything I choose. Trust me, look at the 695 CB's. I'll send you my address for the Christmas card you will want to send me... :drinks:

Update: my clubs have been found...but they're trashed. A good samaritan called to say he had found my bag but that the clubs looked like they had all been beaten into pavement. At least I might be able to recover some of the stuff in my bag. I have no idea why someone would go to the trouble to break into a hotel room only to trash the stolen goods. Maybe he couldn't fence them.

Thanks for the input on the 695 CB. I haven't seen them in person. What does the top line look like? Thick top lines have always been the barrier to me moving to CBs. Just don't like the look.

I told you before this toilet is going to burn in eternal hell. Now he has stolen clubs & destroyed them for no reason. Now he is going to die a painful horrific death & then burn in eternal hell. Why would someone do that? There are some really bad people out there that need to be removed from us permanently, they serve nothing good. Sorry about your sticks brother.

I saw in one of your earlier posts that the security guard told you theft occurred at the hotel all the time. If the hotel was on notice of the theft problem and failed to act, you might have a case against them. It might be worth your while to have a local lawyer write a demand letter and threaten suit. Maybe the hotel will make up the deductible.

One thing you might want to consider (and that goes for all of you), is to get a separate insurance policy for your clubs. I've got one on mine, and with a $50 deductible, and $2500 coverage, the premium is only $20 per year! That is replacement cost without depreciation. Ask your insurance agent about it. It is called an Inland Marine policy. The only reason I know this is because I'm an insurance agent.
