Best Value Ball

well now using the TP Reds and liking the preformance but was wondering what cheaper ball would give me the same preformance.

 

as at £35 per dozen they are a little expensive because after a few full wedge shots

the cover is ruined.

 

anything in the £15-£25 range would be good.

I am not sure if they are available in the UK but the Wilson 50/50 or Zip. Same ball pretty much but the Zip is 3 pieces and 50/50 is two-piece. In America is the Zip is about $20 versus $45 for Prov V1 and the 50/50 is about $15.

 

Top Flite D2 Feel or Gamer are other options. In the USA - the D2 Feel is about $14 to 15 for 15 balls and Gamer is about $20 for a dozen.

I find that Maxfli Noodle and Titleist DT series are great balls for their price range, and a lot cheaper than the TP Red.

I've been meaning to try out the nike one vapor. Its not the cheapest ball but I'm interested to see how it matches up with pricier balls. Also I am a fan of the TaylorMade Burner LDP balls. +1 on the Wilsons as well

I'd persuade you to try the TM Burner TP Ball if you like the High-End TM Balls.

Its a lot cheaper than Reds and Blacks and performance is just outstanding.

 

I had never played a TM ball before, I was a little bit reluctant and got some of these as a gift. After the first round they became my gamer...

Heard good things about the precept laddie x as well, but never played it. There only about $20 for 2(!) dozen.

In terms of value balls, the precept laddie is cheap and lasts but the cover is hard - really lack feel around the greens. I have found the best overall for distance, feel, and price, is the Noodle Plus. Just picked up two boxes of a dozen each at sports authority for $25. At 1$ per ball, ths is a deal. Not much spin (mid spin at best), but overall a great general purpose ball.

The Laddie X is long and not a bad ball. A little hard. I have not tried the Precept IQ 180. As another fellow mentioned the Noodle + is a pretty good ball.

picked up a dozen of them today (noodle plus) and well they are pretty good,

only a slight scuff (still very playable) and even got them to back up a couple of feet with the wedges.

 

really good for the money and i was surprised that the slightly hard feel didn't bother me that much.

You can get e7+ at Wal-Mart right now for $24.88 a dozen.

You should be able to find closeout deals at £20 per dozen on the old Srixon models (Z-URC & Z-URS). The C will likely fit you better if you play an X in the driver. Still excellent balls.

 

If durability is an issue with the high end balls try a sleeve of Srixon Z-Star & Z-Star X, you might be pleasantly surprised. The extra durablility mitigates the cost somewhat and they can be had online for around £25 a dozen if you shop around.

At wal-mart they have great deals on the Precept U-Tri Tour and Wilson zip. Both are 3 piece balls and the U-Tri has a urethane cover. The U-Tri is $15/doz. and the zip is $11/doz.

I picked up 3 dozen. I have never been able to get that price via eBay.

 

 

I shot a 67 the other day with a Srixon Trispeed if that means anything. I wanted to try it on the 1st hole only and ended up bombing it. Played the whole round with it. Long off the tee, stopped on the greens. It was very soft, so on harder conditons, don't know how great it would be around the green. I've played the zStar balls too. Very nice as well.

I put a D2 into play today and was really surprised at how if felt and preformed for such a cheap ball, going to consider making these one of my ball of choice.

Just picked up 2 dozen Precept U-tri Tours. Awesome ball for $15/dozen. I'll play 'em forever at that price.

 

But the absolute best cheap ball is the Precept Laddie X. $20 for 2 dozen. Like everyone who commented before, there are pros and cons. The big pro being that it is LOOONG! The cons being two piece with a fairly hard cover. Less feel I geuss, but they'll stop reasaonably well.

Not sure either, but your WITB is a little heavy, I count 15 clubs. Just thought I'd point it out in case you never noticed. Maybe you don't care but the limit is 14, just and FYI, not trying to be a *****.

yea i know, when i play i only carry 5-pw (leave the 3 and 4)

 

or i leave the hybrid. and play 3-pw

 

i am aware of the fact since i play in quite a few comps (wouldnt be wise carrying 15 clubs lol)

I played the Taylormade XD balls the other day ($15 at Walmart and Target). I was very surprised with this ball. It has the LP technology. These bad boys were really straight and held greens very nice. I kind of liked them better than the TF D2 Feel. I will definately play these again.
