*NEW* TOURSTAGE 701R DRIVER

Recommended Posts

Limited Edition
Here's the new Tourstage 701R w/ Diamana Kai'li. This is like a deeper face version of my 901R....460cc, low trajectory, fade bias in internal weighting and face angle. From what the rep said..limited edition. No idea on the numbers made though.

Great looking driver, Reid! I wish the TourStage stuff was readily available, I would love to try out all of the new drivers...and irons :) Let us know how it performs!

Will do Michael...I only picked it up this afternoon and I won't know how it plays till Friday. I can probably guess though from past experiences on most TS drivers made in the last six years....it wil be straight. They always seem to be. This one has similar characteristics as my 901R except with a deeper face. It's got the same lower trajectory/fade bias but with the added cc's maybe a little more forgiveness. More then likely, the current shaft will have to be pulled as I don't play stiffs in my drivers unless they've been tipped which is a shame since this one is so pretty. ;)

One round with the 701R in the bag. As I thought..very straight. Much more forgiving then my smaller 901R. I didn't have any fliers all day...and not just because I was swinging good. I actually was swinging crappy! :D Biggest surprise was the shaft. I usually play X stiff or Stiff's tipped..but found the Kai'li very stable. It did not torque like normal stiff shafts do for me and I didn't find myself overpowering it.

Trajectory again..similar to the 901R, medium height but very workable. When I needed to hit a high ball, it was there. The bias on the driver is fade but with the softer shaft then I normally use in it, I could easily work the ball right to left as well. If hit normally, a nice baby fade appeared.

Distance, good. Neither longer or shorter then anything I hit. Then again, I'm not one to notice 15 yards of gain or 15 yards or loss. I did notice I got much more roll with this driver versus the 901R, the R9, 909 D3 that I just previously had which did get me about 10 yards farther then I normally go on a few holes.

Feel was like all other Tourstage drivers. Very solid feeling as well as sounding. No high pitched tiinngggg like my cart partners Dymo. :pardon:

The looks on this driver really sets itself apart from other 460's. From above, it hides it's "fat" well. One of my playing partners was surprised to hear it was 460cc's. I really sets up well, again..like most Tourstage drivers.

If you get a chance...I highly suggest taking a look at it and giving it a try.

Oh my gosh, the driver just looks drop dead gorgeous.....I really envy you....

Can you tell me the differences between those models? From what I know, there is the 701, 701G and the 701 GR but I can't find any info on the 901. I think the 701G is a smaller head size at 445cc and has a neutral setting whereas the 701 has a fade bias and the GR a draw bias (both of the latter apparently in a 460cc head shape). So, what does the 901 compare to and does it look different?

Btw, I will have the Srixon Z-800 Driver with 8.5 degrees in my hands tonight....can't wait either.....

Btw, I couldn't find anything here on the 701 "R" either (I'm currently in Korea). Also, what I recognized, the sole painting is slightly different from the models here....wonder if the 701 R and the 701 are the same (just with a little different painting for different markets...at least that seems to be the case, e.g. fade bias etc).
