Anyone use belly putter cut to short putter?

Just wondering if many have tried cutting a belly putter down to a short putter. I've picked up a mid sur and had the belly shaft pulled and now it's currently at 34". I can see it coming down to between 32" and 33". I wanted to experiment with a heavier head and thought it could be one way to go.

 

My anser3 has to have a lot of lead tape on it to get the head weight feeling nice after I cut it to 33.5".

 

Anyone else done this sort of thing before. Why did you try it and was it a success.

I cut down a Cleveland Gutcheck to about 33" (don't remember the original length) and I like the feel of it. Don't use it that much now, but still a nice,heavy club.

 

I'd recommend to change the shaft isto cutting it. That way it is easier to go back if you don't like.

I cut down an Odyssey 2-Ball Mid to 34" and it was a great putter. Sold it to Pinglauncher and have regretted it ever since.

Just got a mid red x2 thats chopped down to 33" and I am rolling the ball just beatifully. Not that it would stay in the bag long but when I am having issues I switch putters or irons or drivers... You get the picture.

I cut down a 45" NEver Compromise center shaft putter to 35.5" and it is a solid putter.

I use a Bettinardi Big Ben belly putter, which was cut from 45 inces to 35 inches.

 

It is pretty heavy, and quite upright but the ball rolls well.

Mine is a belly putter head with a 33" shaft. The headweight is 405 grams and I have a counterweight in the grip end. It practically swings itself! I had a standard weighted head and the heavier one is just better for my stoke.

 

Sometimes you can't just cut a long putter down. Some have shafts that will be way to stiff for a conventional length putter.
