Straighter flying golf ball?

myth or reality?
I noticed on the back of the Bridgestone e6+ box it said that if flew straighter than other balls (and thus would reduce a slice or hook.) Really?

Anyone had any experience with these balls (or others) that claim to fly straighter? Do they? If so, is there a particular ball you've had experience with that is a particularly "straight" ball?

Absolutely. The E6's are very straight.....the Big Bertha Diablo balls are the straightest I've ever hit and crazy long. The only problem with both is they don't spin much around the greens which can be a problem.

They're boty suryln (sp?) covers aren't they? Surlyn covered balls aren't known for their feel on short shots. The e6 is a 3-piece and the diablo is a 2-piece. I was given a sample of the diablo balls. All I've done is practice putting with them so far, but I didn't like the feel of them (or actually I should say they didn't have an feel at all to me for putting.) Don't know about driving them, the I assume they will be similar to most hard, 2-piece balls.

Top-Flite D2 Straight balls reduce sidespin by applying a very slick coating to the cover -- so slick you can't mark them with a Sharpie marker. It just beads up and wipes off. That slick coating reduces air friction in flight, reducing sidespin's effect on the ball flight. Backspin, for some reason, seems to be less affected. The ball climbs out adequately. But greenside spin, compared to the TM Burner TP's I've been playing lately, is significantly less.

Not a terrible ball, actually. Feel is a touch harder than a D2 Feel, but not by much. It putts well, too.

EDIT: The cover is Ionomer, 65D hardness. Ball compression is 58, core compression is 30. All specs per the Top-Flite website.

all the new balls fly relatively straighter than their older counterparts. With the old tour 100s, you could get a ball going left or right that wouldn't stop curving in that direction. With the new balls(currently playing the taylormade tp red, but have seen this behavior with the pro v1, v1x, b330, and tp black) I often will hit a big high draw that at the apex of the flight is well left of where the ball ends up. The ball just comes back the other way. Now it won't do that with duck hooks or quack slices, but if you hit a shot that hangs in the air long enough, the ball tries to straighten up and even work back the other way.

I played with the e6+ this past weekend and the claims are absolutely legit. I hit several drives that should have ended up in the adjoining fairway but ended up just missing the fairway I was aiming for. They will run out on the greens but that is the game I am used to. Good feel off the putter IMO. Highly recommended.

I actually think the Diablo has got great feel.....it's a very soft ball, I think someone said 40 compression. It just won't check on chips but like you said that all has to do with the cover.

The ball is designed to feel very soft because of the new core that they are using. I would suggest trying them on the course before you dismiss it.

I need to check out the E6 and Diablo. I have buckets of found balls and may have an E6. I think I may have a Diablo. Cally is making golf almost idiot proof as the Diablo driver is straight. I heard the irons are great. I wonder when we will see them in the USA. The X-20/22's are great too.

I find the D2 Straight is a little straighter than the D2 Distance. A indep golf ball test showed the dispersion on the D2 Straight to be very low. The Freak is also pretty straight. I personally like TF balls even the cheaper XL Distance and Straight. If you hit a high pitch shot they will stop fairly well. Better players can go with the Feel or Gamer.

A ball I like which is straight, soft, long and has decent stopping spin is a Wilson 50/50. The price is just slightly higher than the D2 line. I bought a 45 pack of Wilson Staff 360's and I like the ball a lot. It is a lot like the 50/50. The cost for the 45 pack was about .55 cents a ball.

I have buckets of them all. My favorite premium ball of the Pro V1X. For me it is not worth the extra money.

I also found the Diablo to be softer. I know ball feel is subjective though. I remember reading a review that said the HX Hot Bite was hard and clicky. Just delusional. That ball is as soft as they come.

The HX Hot Bite is an amazing ball. Great feel, control, pretty straight, and pretty long as well. The only downside is durability.

Second the WS 50/50 endorsment. The preceding dx2 and newer Zip have all the same characteristics. As to straightness which they all demonstrate, I attribute it to the dimple pattern which is large for the most part and very flat (almost no cup effect in the dimples). For me, they putt like a Pro-V, deliver decent distance and have reasonable checking ability. Normally play in windy conditions and their straight holding pattern sold me.

The Bridgestone e6 (next gen e6+) is very good at keeping some of your wayward shots from getting you into trouble. I had some issues up til this year with a bad slice from the tee with my driver. While the e6+ didn't cure the slice it did help minimize the effects and keep the ball straighter. Alot of times it would take a slice that would have been way off in the rough and keep in either on the fairway or just off it in the short rough. The e6+ actually help me reduce my handicap by a few strokes.

I personally found the Srixon Trispeed to be a straight ball as well from the tee and gives a good distance. Also it has a soft feel. It (along with the e6+) will not spin as much around the green like the TM Burner TP will but all in all the Trispeed has been a great ball for me and my game.
