Srixon Z-Star - TM Red LDP - V1 - Bridgestone RX

Need some assistance to help me make a decision

I have been playing all of the above balls off and on - trying to pick a player. Looking for some guidance, assurance on my findings. Looking for a ball that is not clicky off the putter, good around greens but does not zip off the green and solid distance.

Not sure of swing speed - was about 105-110 a few years ago. 8 iron is about 155-160 if that helps.

Z-Star: current favorite. Great all around ball - but get feeling I may be missing a little distance
Red: Like a lot - a little confused on the 2008 vs 2009 models
V1: never been a big fan - seems close to the Z-Star
RX: Played early on when it was cold and liked it. Fear I may lose some distance and compress to much with driver.

Currently have both TM and Srixon in the bag. SS 99-100

Z-Star all around goodness:

Best ball I ever putted, soft yet firm, just rolls nice - TM Red seems a little heavier. Can go deep off tee. Awesome durability for a tour ball. Only downfall I hit them higher than I'd like.

TM TP Red LDP:

Loooooooooong, wow I hit these far. Spins enough, not near as much as Z-star. Good putter feel, softer than most. Lower flight. just seems to go off long irons

Interchangeable for me once I get over the height off the driver with the Z-Star. My dream ball would basically be a hybrid of the 2. Driver and long irons would be the red for the way they launch off the clubs and lower ball flight and 150 in would be the Z-Star especially for putting.

Thanks. Exactly my thoughts on the Z-Star. I may by some TP Red LDP's and give them some more play to see how I like them - especially now that the weather is getting better here in Idaho.

The TP Red LDP are the new approved 2009 versions - correct? I read some links on here about differences between 2008 and 2009's.

There was a non-conforming version that went around. Look for "Tournament Edition" on the box or I think the side is <TP RED.LDP>

For the heck of it I picked up at dozen at Walmart tonight. I'm playing in a member-guest starting tomorrow so I'm going to use them for that to see how there are.

Played and tested out all the balls except the TM Red.

Like the Z-Star the best and the RX the least. My SS is 115 with driver. HCP- 6

The RX was waaay to soft. Lost a huge amount of distance, knew it was the wrong ball from the first swing but got a free sleeve so figured why not? Gave the other 2 to a friend. Found out late they are made for players with SS under 100mph.

ProV1 - Used to play the ProV1-X alot. I could really feel a difference when they went to the new design. Has alot more click off the putter and feels a little harder. Not a big fan.

Z-Star - Tried the regular Z-Star as well as the Z-Star X this year. Liked both alot but actaully felt I had more control and spin with the regular Z-Star. Feels great off the putter and has awesome "stop and drop" action. Plus they are cheaper than my usual Callaway Tour iX.

The original TP red/black was released in 2006. The LDP versions were released in 2008. No other changes have been made since. The Penta was just released to replace the red, the LDP black will still be sold in 2010.
