A question for Joe

From what I can see, you are the honest equipment guru that Ive been looking for!! Im looking for an honest oppinion on shafts. I am currently hitting a 460 comp, 9.5 with a 7.0 rifle, tipped an inch. Swing speed: average of 110+, shaft length: 44 1/4, Lead tape: physically under the grip, 7 wraps directly under the grip on the shaft, 2 wraps mid way down, and about 6 pieces 2 inches long on the toe. Ball flight: mid/high, ball carry: 295+. Im 6'2, 235, pretty strong, and my wingspan from middle finger to middle finger is 6'3. My problem is trying to find a graphite shaft that dosnt feel like a wet noodle, and isnt light as a feather :) . I like a shorter club due to the fact that my arms are long, and I am able to controll the ball better with a 44 1/4" shaft. If you could please reccomend a shaft combonation for my driver, I would be forever in your debt!!! Anybody elses imput would be appreciated!!!

I would suggest that you take a look at your numbers again. You CANNOT swing at 110 and carry the ball 295+. It is not physically possible. At that speed, the highest ball speed you could achieve is 165-170. This does not equate to 295+ carry. I have the same club head speed and I have about a 165 max ball speed. I can carry the ball at most 275 without wind assist. If you were more honest about your numbers, Joe may be able to better help. I would think this is the reason he hasn't answered your question yet...

Common man, why would I lie about something that I am honestly trying to improve?? I used a sky caddie yesterday when I played with my boss and the lower end of my carry was 285-295, the majority were 296, 297. My spin rate is right around 1600/1700, I would not lie about something that I am trying to honestly improve, that makes absolutely no since.

Have you tried tipping graphite shafts? That will definitely stiffen it up for you.

Common man, why would I lie about something that I am honestly trying to improve?? I used a sky caddie yesterday when I played with my boss and the lower end of my carry was 285-295, the majority were 296, 297. My spin rate is right around 1600/1700, I would not lie about something that I am trying to honestly improve, that makes absolutely no since.

The physics DO NOT add up. I have worked in the Golf industry off and on for several years. I have had a lot of time with various launch monitors and know the numbers. What you are saying is not possible unless you have grossly underestimated your swing speed. Besides, if your numbers are that good, what are you trying to change? Be more honest with YOURSELF and you may get some good help. Otherwise, continue to live in a dream world and get no better...

Im sorry if my information is baffling you, the last time I hit balls on a launch monitor was a month ago using an accusport vector, my lowest clubhead speed was 109, and the highest was 116. That is what the "+" incicates. Im not calling you a phony, and I trust your knowledge and experience, but the information that I am giving is as accurate as I can give it.

After reading the whole thing, I thing it would be best if you can get on a launch monitor and call me after that...we will discuss it over the phone w/ some questions and answer to get you some shafts suggestion.
