Hogan lovers- who has had luck with Hogan irons?

Hogan golf has a new iron out which is obviously an updated version of the Hogan Edge iron, called Hogan edge. They have discontinued the apex edge pro iron and I think this is their replacement. Anybody seen it or hit it? Particularly interested in their stock shaft Apex 4 (stiff) . I have never played Hogans and to be honest have played with very few players who have but they seem to have a pretty big following. Do you think this is going to be a good iron for them or what?

I have played the Apex Plus for the past 5 years with the #4 shaft. Great clubs and shaft combo, very soft feel when hit in the sweet spot. I had very good distance control and could really feel the club head. Switching to a more game improvement iron because I don't have time to practice, but when I do I will go back to them.

I have had a couple sets of Hogans. the edge and edge pro were great irons, top quality, finish and feel second to none. They lost it with the CFT irons though. The finish and quality was still there but the feel was not there at all. The apex #4 shaft is a great shaft, real similar to a TT s300 but just a bit lighter, very little bit. (temper makes them for HOGAN). The new edge looks great and I'm looking forward to hitting them.

I love my Edge Pros. I really like the FTX with the blade in the higher irons but would prefer to start the blade with the 5-iron.

seen them hit them..

but the unfortunate circumstance is hogan is a dying brand... the best US forging there are .. er was.

My best friends loves is apex pro's.

I agree. I played Apex Edge Pros for several years, and really really liked this club a LOT. The ONLY reason I sold them was to put my Tourstage Z101's into the main bag. If I didn't have so many irons right now - I would have kept the Hogans as backups. I've not hit those new ones, but they look very very good. I have to agree that it appears Hogan is a dying brand - I just don't "get it" with those new awful drivers, and CFT-type irons they're coming out with. I miss the old Hogan legacy of some of the finest forged clubs ever made, true to the spirit of Hogan himself.

As far as the Apex4 shaft - I really like it. It felt a litle lighter than a DGS300, and just as stable, without being as whippy as a Rifle. Good 'chafts!

I played the FTX for a few months...Loved them when I was on...easily the best american forging, so extremely soft...I just switched to the xtours, as I needed a little more forgiveness in the longer irons...loved the blades (8-E)...and wouldn't hesitate to get another set later....The apex shaft is probably one of the best oem shafts (taking out everyone that puts in tt, rifles, etc)...The apex is made by royal precision, and its best counterpart when looking at reshafting one is listed as a "dynalite gold taper"

I know that Furyk is with Srixon now, but man did he do some damage with Hogans in the bag... proof that forgings certainly are for "shorter" hitting players as well :D Of course, he doesn't exactly swing the club slowly himself :stop:

Hogan irons are still IMHO one of the best looking clubs that have performance to match, in the right hands...

Played with Apex Edge Pro's for 2 years. Still use them as a backup set. Very forgiving and a absolute dream when hit well. Now playing with Apex blades and you could not pry these away from me. Stock steel shafts are great in both these clubs.

The new sticks look very similar to the Pro's but I believe their target market will be more to the mid handicapper instead of the low one. The deeper cavity looks to be the work of Callaway.

Has anyone had a chance to evaluate the new Apex wedges coming out the middle of this month? As a Colonial model player I am interested in the differences.
