pro v1 star

anyone got any pics of the sidestamp or can tell me how to tell them a part from a prov1? because i have a few to many pro v's around the house and i was wondering if i could try something else

The difference is:
The sidestamp on the Pro V1 is Left Arrow Pro V1-392 Right Arrow
<Pro V1-392>

The sidestamp on the Pro V1*(STAR) is Left Arrow Pro V1*392 Right Arrow
<Pro V1*392>

is it just a dot or an actual star because i have a few pro v1 with a dot where you said the * would be

The Star has an asterisk where the dot is.

the star was a prototype ball Titleist put out for the players to test...it was prevalent on tour during the fall of 2002 (pretty sure it was '02...could've been '03 maybe...I was working with Titleist's tour operations at a couple events in the area from '01-'03). There was also the diamond...it was NOT well liked by the players!

Yeah, I knew a version of the Star was...I never had to pay for them so wasn't sure how/if it was released.

I know the Diamond never made it past the prototype phase though.

Just played a course this past week that had a few sleeves still for sale on the shelf. I picked up a couple sleeves to remember the old ball and I like it. I like it more than the new one actually. It seems softer and spins more than the 09 Pro V1. Just my 2 cents though. Cover tears up a little more than the 09 so that might be why it spins more. Chip shots bite more than the 09 Pro V1's but everything else ball flight wise seems about the same. I know this is the X version that we all know now but I like it better than the regular version you can buy today.
