Use Reading Glasses? GPS or Rangefinder?

Recommended Posts

I wear reading glasses 2.0, my long vision is still good....Prefer GPS mainly cos I play all over including UK/Scotland and it seems easier...but have not found one with BIG numbers, at least not at Golf Galaxy...but would go with rangefinder if necessary...Any recomendations/pitfalls etc. from other glasses users....

Thanks in Advance

Contacts

seriously, i was in your shoes a month ago, was wearing readers for everything up close. went to the eye doc and got fitted for contacts (30 day ones, i take them out once in while to clean and sleep with them every night) and its made a world of difference. i don't use my readers any longer.

I will be 60 in a few months. My last eye exam came in at 20/20 left eye and 20/30 right eye uncorrected which I guess is good for an old fart. I do have trouble reading small stuff and keep 150 cheapie reading glasses all over the house and I did carry a pair of them to see some of the readings on my iGolf Neo. For this and some other reasons I purchased a Golf Guru 4. It has several viewing screens and I can see all of the numbers. One I call the "geezer screen" and the fonts are absolutely huge.

The new Golf Guru 4 has a very large screen and uses large fonts for all their views except the AerVu view, which is the graphical depiction of the hole.

I am in a similar situation, except I use 2.5 to 2.75 for reading, or the lower for computer work. Long vision is still very good. I have the Golf Guru 2 with the transflective screen. In the house, I have a difficult time reading the thing without glasses, but I can usually make it out. On the course, I have never had a problem, as the extra light makes the screen easier to read. I have used it on very cloudy days, but never late in the evening, so the latter could cause a problem. Like others, I am considering the GG4, because of the larger screen, but again, I have never had a problem reading the GG2 on the course without glasses. Your mileage may vary! java script:add_smilie(";)","smid_4")

Like you I can see far just fine. I need my "cheaters" for just about any reading/close up stuff.

That said, I have no issues using my laser rangefinder without glasses.

You say your main reason is because you "play all over". Me too. I find the laser is much more adaptable. Unlike my old Skycaddie, I've never found a course the laser didn't work perfectly at.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
